Worcester Bosch CDi combi boiler - huge gas usage

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the latest regulations, but I seem to remember asking my installer (in 1994) why he didn't fit a a room thermostat and he said it wasn't necessary and couldn't understand why BG insisted on doing it. Obviously gas was a lot cheaper then!

    Leaky Worcester

I had the same problem on my 28Cdi last Christmas, and the leak was so bad the system could not be used. Couldn't get anyone to touch it. Apparently the the boiler has to come off the wall more or less. I was at my wits end because we couldn't afford a new boiler or the cost of repair, so...

Worcester Bosch CDi combi boiler - huge gas usage

Very interested in your comments tonybhoy as I have an 8 year old WB 28CDi which I've always suspected has been more expensive to run than it should be. By boiler cycling I guess you mean that it's constantly stopping and starting over long periods which uses a lot of gas. Can I ask a few...

    Worcester Expansion Vessel External Leak!

Having had WB out last week to replace diverter valve, gas valve and w to w heat exchanger on my 28CDi, I've now got the boiler pressure going crazy which looks like an expansion vessel problem. I re-pressurised it a few weeks ago so it's probably gone completely. In fact, it seems to be weeping...

Magnaclean Professional, Twintech or another make?

Just had a new heat exhanger and was recommended a Magnaclean as there is sludge in the system. Is the Professional or Twintech model or even another make best? The Twintech looks like a good idea as it's supposed to remove magnetic and non-magnetic particles. Is it essential to flush the system...

    Are maintenance contracts worth it?

Here's my view for what it's worth. I have a Worcester combi which is now 8 years old and it's been pretty reliable. I've only had it serviced a couple of times, once when we lost hot water and a part had to be replaced in the diverter valve. This cost £80 I think about three years ago. Recently...

    Help! Automatic Air Vent

Thanks for the prompt reply. I panicked a bit, the problem was obviously either a sticking or faulty valve. I removed and tested it with a hose and it would not work even after shaking or tapping it. The old one works fine though!

    Cannon Chesterfield Won't Stay Alight

The problem was the knob which I had removed for cleaning the day before.

    Help! Automatic Air Vent

I have a Worcester 28Cdi combi. I've just replaced the automatic air vent but when I fill the system water spurts out of the AAV before the pressure gauge shows any pressure. What have I done wrong?

    Cannon Chesterfield Won't Stay Alight

I have a Cannon Chesterfied gas cooker (model C60GCK). We have not used the top oven for some time because although it lights on ignition it will not stay alight no matter how long you hold the knob pushed in. Now we have the same problem with the grill, which is even more annoying. Has this...

    Worcester 28CDi burner lockout

Thought you might like to know I had WB out and he replaced the gas valve, diverter valve, prv and heat exchanger for £245 so thanks for the advice. He also recommended a Magnaclean unit. Any thoughts? Any reason I shouldn't fit one myself? (I've done some research and it looks...

    Worcester 28CDi burner lockout

Hi, can you also tell me if you're better off buying parts yourself and then getting an engineer to fit them (unless it's WB of course)? Thanks.

    Worcester 28CDi burner lockout

Hi, thanks for all the advice. tryitandsee, I reckon you're probably right about the gas valve sticking, as I've just remembered I have had a previous lockout which cleared OK. The boiler is 8 years old. nickso, what exactly should I do? Test the resistance across pins 7&8 and 9&10...

    Worcester 28CDi burner lockout

I have recently got my boiler working again after resolving pressure problems caused by a slow leak (PRV I think) and a flat expansion vessel. It has worked fine for a few days (although the boiler pressure rises from 1.5 bar cold to just under 2.5 bar when hot which I think might be too much...
