    Quick fixes

Thanks Growler. We used the Crown Solo Satin and it looks a lot better than we imagined. And we got finshed in time which is amazing considering the amount of painting we had to do. Even had time to put up shelves in the bathroom! Great tip. Much appreciated. Cheers.

    Quick fixes

Cheers, Solo it is then. I think we may have used it in the past once and seem to remeber it was quite good at the time. We were determined to do it right this time as it's not often you have an empty house but the builders have been on go slow the past few weeks and our 2 weeks decorating time...

    Quick fixes

I know I'll be shot down in flames for wanting to do this but we are due to move back into our home next week following 6 months in a tiny caravan whilst flood damage was repaired. We have just the weekend between the builders leaving and the laminate flooring being laid/ furniture arriving...

    satellite/ tv/ phone connections

Hi, sorry, you misunderstood. The phone cable is coiled up next to the connection point on the wall, not under the floor, but there is only about 0.5m coiled. My builder isn't exactly generous with cable and we may even need to connect extra cable to the ends of the tv & satellite cables he's...

    satellite/ tv/ phone connections

Hubby would like sky plus but with a toddler and a baby on the way it ain't gonna happen for a few years unless it suddenly comes free, he gets a big payrise or we get a lottery win! We will have the spare satellite socket in the opposite alcove to the one we will be using so maybe we...

    satellite/ tv/ phone connections

I used to think I was fairly intellegent until I tried to suss all this out! Ok, so as far as I can gather, what we have should be ok apart from possibly extending a few cables and maybe getting a 'loftbox'. The main thing is that once the floor has been laid it doesn't need to come up...

    satellite/ tv/ phone connections

No doubt you have answered this type of question many times before but I've already checked out a few of he answers and none of them seem to fit my query (worryingly!). We were flooded last year and currently have the cable from our satellite dish running externally to the caravan we are...

    Problem with neighbours guttering.

You're probably right. It's just annoying that we have to pay for her front fence, back fence and now guttering replacing when we have things that need doing on our own home plus a toddler and new baby on the way. The surveyors have also told us that she would definately have floodwater under...

    Problem with neighbours guttering.

It's worth a try! I can't see what else we can do to be honest as it's her guttering not ours but it's damaging our property. Don't really wanna fall out by getting solicitors in but she doesn't seem to care about her property.

Now urgent! Can one of u nice pro decorators help please?

Cheers. It's a nightmare to apply in the first place because over paint you can't see where you've done! We'll have to work out a pattern to follow. Thanks.

Now urgent! Can one of u nice pro decorators help please?

I will do that. Thank you so much. We are desperate to get back into our house since the floods and the sooner we get the decorating finished the sooner we can get our furniture back from storage. :D

    Problem with neighbours guttering.

Our guttering was replaced around 3 years ago with pvc but our neighbour still has wooden ones (where she has them at all!). On the roof where hers meets ours the end of hers is all brittle and leaks. Unfortunately due to the wind direction/ gravity/ position of house we get the water from the...

Now urgent! Can one of u nice pro decorators help please?

Can anyone please help. We had walls that were painted with 2 coats of vinyl silk but wanted to wallpaper so we sized them with wallpaper paste. We were going to paper 3 walls but after finishing the chimney breast have decided that it will look too busy and opted just to do 2 walls. The problem...

    Aquapanel

Sorry! Didn't mean to start a debate! It will be wedged behind the bath in our bathroom so I think we'll chance the dot & dab plus screws and cross our fingers!

    Aquapanel

    That's great, Cheers.

    Aquapanel

Doh! Do you think it could be screwed direct onto the walls or will it have to be fitted to batons? We only have a small bathroom so I'm trying not to shrink it too much by bringing the walls in if it can be avoided.

    Aquapanel

Can aquapanel be used in place of plasterboard and dot and dabbed to a brick exterior wall? I understand that using this saves having to tank the area around the bath shower. Is it compatible with plasterboard if the rest of the bathroom is plasterboarded or will it all have to be aquapanel?

    Pebble tiles

    Thats great, thank you.

    Pebble tiles

Thanks fo that Jason it all makes sense now! We are having the bathroom plasterboarded (dot and dab) so will probably need to tank the area around the bath/shower anyway before tiling with the standard type white gloss tiles. Will this be enough for the pebble border areas too?
