3 Lives going into a MCB???

Thanks Taylor. I had a feeling it could be just a spur and someone has gone straight to the CU rather than spur a near by socket. I just didn't know if this was normal so I could sort it while the electrics are getting done. I'll try and find how to link it all in to make sense, but I'm a...

3 Lives going into a MCB???

Morning All, Well i finally got an electrican round 3 weeks ago nearly and i really think the governmnet need to re-define who they deem competant!!!! Ill take pictures when i get the chance but at least i got the isolator fitted which means if i cant get him back I'll sort it out myself...

    Extending Circuits

Thanks everyone for your input. I was planning to move the meter outside and then a switch fuse would have been needed as the tails would have been more than 3 meters in length. But I soon got rid of that idea when the DNO wanted a mortgage to move it. Robbing gets!

    Copper to plastic radiator move

Ha, yeah I got yer. I've never heard it called that. I just call it a pipe cutter. I've got a decent pipe cutter and wire wool to clean the copper beforehand.

    Copper to plastic radiator move

Hi Sandy What do you mean "pipe slice" and "mark the insertion depth"?

    Extending Circuits

There Is probably no need for one tbh. But ive seen many electrical injuries in my job (been in the aircraft engineering trade for 18 years) and having a way to isolator the Dist Board is something I wanted. Belts and braces I guess!!! Its not costing much extra on top of the CU fit anyway.

    Extending Circuits

Cheers BAS, Its because I have uploaded the picture from my phone straight to here. I usually go through my laptop so therefore I am able to rotate them in windows.

    Extending Circuits

Hi John, Ive had to write some instruction down for the sparky as I cant get hold of him and im not here for the next week. Ive asked if those Henleys can be removed and put in an isolator there. WYLEX REC2, or even drop the tails down and fit the isolator below the meter so its closer to...

    Extending Circuits

Hi Taylor I don't no which one is which but I only have 5 working, the 6th is an immersion heater that has now gone but I've asked for that to be made into attic electrics as it's redundant up there. The other 5 are up sockets, down sockets, up lights, down lights and cooker. I personally...

    Extending Circuits

Good Morning All, Just after some advise as I cannot see how this is going to look nice!!! Im getting my CU replaced hopefully Friday (cant get hold of the spark to confirm, STANDARD!!), The new location is going to be around a meter or so below the old one. Just below the meter that you...

    Meter Tails sizing.

Im not sure if he wants to waste copper but I can see your point. The price isn't much more, looking at the cost of the tails. Its only a meter or so that ill need to fork out for. I just couldn't see the point when everything back from the new isolator will be 16mm2!

    Copper to plastic radiator move

thanks gas What is the barrier type? Is it the really thin stuff that comes coiled up?I think I just used speedfit 15mm when I plumbed in the sinks etc. Im guessing there is a simple push fit that goes onto copper pipe si I can start using plastic? Thanks agian

    Meter Tails sizing.

Thanks taylor, Yeah it doesn't make much sense to me. but I guess as the meter is sealed then he could only upgraded the tails from the CU to the isolator anyway.

    Copper to plastic radiator move

Good Morning all, The first DIY plumbing I did was to move a radiator and replace it with a towel radiator. It worked out really well but I did your solder and copper so it took ages and looked like I had fell in the FLUX tube. Anyway, now im wanting to move another and friends have said...

    Meter Tails sizing.

Good Morning all, Hope you all had a good Christmas. Right, im getting a REC 2 isolator fitted next week and been told the tails will need upgrading. At the minute I have 16mm which I know is good upto 87 Amps so im guessing my main cut out must be 100A and the upgraded tails will be...

Diode porblem with a 12v TV

Saying that, usually there is a line on a Diode annotating which side the Cathode is on, but there isn't. I really need to get this picture unloaded !!

Diode porblem with a 12v TV

Hi Bernard Sorry I should of said it was open circuit. I think my friend said when he broke the 12v power supply he accidently wired it reverse polarity before he realised the centre pin was ment to be the +ve. That's when he asked for help. So I had a feeling it was the diode, but bypassing...

Diode porblem with a 12v TV

Afternoon All, Ive been diving into a 12v TV for a friend and after some fault finding I've found a Diode that is not doing what it should.(I've bypassed it and the TV works so definite DIODE) I know I can buy them from Maplin for around 50p but Im unsure as to which diode it is. Ive...
