    Help with aerial

I gave my van a jet wash the other day and got a bit carried away with the brush - I caught the aerial and it popped off. Surprisingly I can still get Talksport but not much else. Is it easy to replace or quite involved? If it's pretty much common sense I'll have a go, where can I buy an...

    Wear bar indicator

I am aware of the 'wear bar indicator' that is on tyres but I'm not sure at which point they become illegal? All 4 of mine are very close to the bar but not onto it. I can feel there is a slight dip (but not much) as I move my fingers across. I know I will need new ones very soon, but it...

    Consultant needed

Fair comment freddymercurytwin, I just need someone to take a look at my quote, take a look at the photos/drawing and see where I'm making my mistakes. I'm mainly underestimating the time it takes me to complete each job. The forum can't help with this. All I want to do is earn an honest days...

    Consultant needed

I've been designing gardens for years and I'm now starting to build as well. The problem is, I've been getting my pricing wrong - always under. I also need general help like estimating the amount of skips needed, how much topsoil to order etc. So I'm looking for someone who can act as a...

Clever suggestions for water logged border

Redpis - Thanks for posting the pictures - really helpful. I assume the drains linked back into the surface water? Where did you get the drainage pipes from? Many thanks.

    Paving Pattern

Thinking about it, you say you would lay a repeat pattern using 2 or 3 different sizes, could I use a repeat pattern using 4 different sizes? This is what you get in the project pack I have ordered; 290 x 290 600 x 290 600 x 600 600 x 900 Thanks again.

    Paving Pattern

Thanks WabbitPoo, I did wonder a large area of random flags may be too much. I agree it needs to be planned carefully on paper before I start. I will get pavingexpert to design the layout, I've asked him for a quote. Maybe I can upload his layout so everyone can see if it's a useful service.

That's right, Sandstone. I noticed today that pavingexpert will provide a layout plan for about £50, is it worth it? Saves me getting it wrong. Thanks.

    Paving Pattern

I need help to decide what paving pattern will be best in my back garden. I want to use paving in a random pattern, and also break the pattern up with a half moon of cobble setts (100 x 100) as shown in diagram 1. The cobbles must be exactly the same stone as the main paving flags that are...

Clever suggestions for water logged border

The whole road is on a hill, so when it rains the water makes it's way down the hill and across all the back gardens. The area is made up of heavy clay. I appreciate the water problem should be addressed before constructing the garden, however, in a situation like this if you did install...

Clever suggestions for water logged border

I am constructing a new path to my shed with a border for plants between the new path and the fence. What you can't see in this picture is the foundations that these engineering bricks are sitting on. They go down about 3 feet as it is a very heavy clay soil. It was raining today and...
