new fence ,concrete posts moving .

It could perhaps be done without having to lift the panels up high to drop them down between the posts, by setting a post in the ground, installing the gravel board, placing the fence panel in position along with the next post etc etc.

new fence ,concrete posts moving .

If I had a 6ft panel with 1ft gravel board Id want at least 2.5ft of the post buried in the ground.

    Fixing garden gate to wall?

Yes I did, the post I actually used to attach to the wall was actually 50mm thick. I used a wood drill bit to bore a 15mm hole about half way through the post (to accept the bolt head and the socket used to tighten the bolt), and then drilled a 10mm hole through the rest of the post for the bolt...

Which is lighter, an electric or petrol chainsaw ?

I bought an electric chainsaw from Lidl the other week, cost about £50 and its a great little chainsaw which makes light work of the logs I've been cutting in my garden. I wouldn't expect it to fell large trees, but for cutting up logs it performs brilliantly. The chain stops immediately when...

    Fixing garden gate to wall?

I think the other side of the wall will be the interior of his living room. Maybe we need to use larger hex head bolts and fit them through the wooden post and into the wall, using a ratchet & socket?

    Fixing garden gate to wall?

Im goiing to be helping a mate fit a 6ft x 3ft wooden garden gate to his house. The gate will be hung off a 6ft fence post (75mm x 75mm) and the post will be drilled/bolted into the brickwork of the exterior of his house. He has some 10 x 135mm frame fixers as below, will these be suitable for...

    Summerhouse rotting in corner

New panels purchased, though they are slightly thicker than the originals they still fit into each other just fine. Treated the new panels, then painted them... Rotten panels removed and shed framework treated with preservative.. New panels positioned into place, then marked out and cut...

    Summerhouse rotting in corner

I removed the lower panel from my summer house today and cut a section from it to take as a sample to a local local fencing company. The panel came away easily when prised off with a wide bladed tool. They sell an almost identical board and gave me a sample to bring home to compare with my...

    Stones in soil / re-turfing

If your laying turf then I wouldn't worry about the smaller stones, otherwise you'll be out there all day picking them up, it would be an endless task. When I prepared my soil for turfing I levelled and compressed it with my feet and then I left it a few days to see how it behaved in the rain...

    Electric socket back boxes

So are we saying that 25mm back boxes aren't usually deep enough for ethernet faceplates, but the bevelled type should be ok? They won't really be see as I'm locating them behind the TV etc.

    Summerhouse rotting in corner

I have the same problem, I've cut down an overgrown bamboo plant to discover it has rubbed against the summerhouse and worn it away. Seeing as the damage is in the lower half of the shed, I assume I need to remove the boards from the bottom up and replace? Also, where would I get...

    Electric socket back boxes

Well that does make sense. I guess I'd just need to snip off these lugs on the side of the faceplate, so they don't dig into the plaster. They seem to be there to locate inside the plastic back boxes.

    Electric socket back boxes

These are the face plates and back boxes I have... On the rear of the faceplates there are quite a few plastic lugs next to the screw holes. These lugs mean that the faceplate doesn't fit flush, and the holes don't quite line up correctly. The face plate rocks and wobbles and even...
