Got a buzz from a water pipe......

Yes, was thinking of that [total re-wire ], actually - it's not a hard place to do and he wants all the sockets sinking in the walls so I have to have boards up, skirtings off and...... . And yes, quite capable of doing the work - never take on something unless I'm confident. Have me Part P...

Got a buzz from a water pipe......

I'm going delving under boards tomorrow.... Stripping out the last of the water pipes [ all of it! ] & redundant cable [lots of it - they were powering all sorts inside and out] - remove extension cables wired into the back of wall sockets and then follow the cables from fusebox back to...

    Fireproofing a boiler 'cupboard'

He's installing the boiler - I'm doing the rest. He'll need to return to connect and commission it. I have no OFTEC qualifications. Why? Is there an issue with that?

    Fireproofing a boiler 'cupboard'

Hey Folks! I'm shortly going to be installing a Central heating system - the client wants the boiler to go under the stairs. I understand that this is permitted, given everything else being equal, if the understairs area can be proofed to withstand fire for 30 minutes. Sniffin' around...

Pipe hanger / joist clip ??

Hmmm! Plastic!! Hmmm! A whole different can of worms again. The place I'm quoting on right now has loads of plastic surface mounted [ and unmounted ] pipework in 2 bathrooms - all very Heath Robinson..... All looks discoloured and weeps at 2 elbows and a tee. The new householder wants...

Pipe hanger / joist clip ??

There is a market in The States... they have various pipe hangers available - the kind of thing I was looking for is a :- http://doitbest.com/Pipe+straps+and+hangers-Oatey+Scs-model-33764-doitbest-sku-402737.dib Though plastic or galvanized strapping and a nail seems to be the universal method!

Pipe hanger / joist clip ??

Hmmm! I kinda feel the belt & braces method is the more professional idea, however the jury-rigged hangers are deffo going to be faster and the more popular method. I'll leave the 'client' decide! Heh! Nice to know I'm not missing a particular clip/hanger for the job!

Pipe hanger / joist clip ??

Unless, of course, I'd not be conforming to a Standard, is there such an animal as a Joist Clip? The scenario being; that the wooden ground floor to a house is boards supported on joists, them selves supported on brick/block pillars. So rather than notch the joists to take pipes across, I'd...

    Suitable vehicle

Hmmmm! It's true to say I won't be buying a new vehicle - a mate of mine works out of a pickup but I think takes advantage of supplier deliveries for the bigger stuff. Though I'd like 1, I really don't see it being practical for me as to remain gainfully employed, I'm going to need to...

    Suitable vehicle

Thanks for that! I do appreciate it's tough out there - especially as the 'site plumbers' are nicking the other guy's work until the building industry kicks back in. However, I'm kinda hoping that flexibility and the [apparent] more personal commitment of a 1-man-operation, will win over...

    Suitable vehicle

Thanks for that one! Have to admit, I shifted a bathroom suite [ pan, cistern, pedestal, basin, fitting & a few tools, in the back of, and bath on the roof of, a Ford Ka! ] Shame some Bi-atch ploughed into the back of me across Christmas.... *sighs*... So was wondering if I go the car or...
