A couple of weeks ago when it really hot I noticed a load of little red spiders on the patio, they're tiny about the size of a pinhead. Anyone know - what are they and where they're from - are they dangerous (toddler puts anything in her mouth!) - how do I get rid of them After the hot...

Combi boiler loses pressure whenever radiators are on

GasGuru - I've got exactly the same problem, mines a Baxi 133 HE Cond Combi with 17 rads. Can you tell me what the expansion vessel pressure should be and how you work it out? What happens if its more or less than that. Cheers, Andy

    Falling combi pressure?

Bled two of my rads last week, ever since the pressure gauge keeps falling to the left (low pressure). I've got a Baxi 133 HE Condensing Combi, the gauge is marked in three parts: 0-1 (Red, low pressure, possible leak), 1-2.5 (Green, normal pressure, OK), 2.5-3.0+ (Red, high pressure, problem)...

The sinks and bath plumbing keeps getting jammed with hair, too many women in the house! Does anyone know what they call those round plastic things they use in barber shops to catch hair in sinks when they wash your hair. And where can I get some? I've tried asking in my local but they...

    White filler/plaster?

Is there any fine grained, tough, smooth white filler or plaster that comes in a powder that you can buy in the high street. I've got some fine (and not so fine) cracks in the wall that I want to fill-in and then paint over. I bought some of the Polyfilla stuff but they're all dark grey? The...

    LED Lighting

Been to a few shops but no one has any on display although Maplins suggested that they were at least as bright as my 50W halogen bulbs. But a 15 quid each I'm not sure I want to try them out for fun. There are cheaper ones around but they seem to have fewer leds in the cluster or don't last...

    LED Lighting

I've got a kitchen light fitting that takes 4 Halogen GU10 (50W, mains voltage) bulbs, I'd like to replace them 4 White LED GU10 (1.7w, 15 LEDs, mains voltage) bulbs. Does anybody know how bright LEDs are? Is there a rule of thumb for converting from "normal" bulbs to LEDs.

    Paving on concrete

I'm trying to pave my concrete driveway using a combination of bricks and slabs, whats the best way to prepare the surface? Been told that as its already rigid I've got to use (cement / sand) mortar as the base before laying the bricks and slabs. Does this sound right, anything else to do and...

    Knocking Radiators

Not sure about them being on the wrong side, the TRVs are all bidirectional and I seem to remember it was OK when all the TRVs were all fully on during installation. Only really started to notice the noise after the TRVs were turned down because some of the rooms were too warm. Could go back...
