    ecoTEC 28 pro combi boiler

Hi thanks - I did let the boiler purge itself. I also, ran the bleeding test program - although it does say when you do this that the cap on the air vent must be loosened. Not sure where this is...? HW is fine. The re-routing was pretty basic - just removed some pipe and made it a bit...

    ecoTEC 28 pro combi boiler

all radiator valves and any valves on the pipes coming out the boiler are open fully. Are either of these what you mean? Is there anything I should be doing on the boiler? All rads are multi-column and guessing there are lots of places air bubbles could collect... But have bleed each for...

    ecoTEC 28 pro combi boiler

I have an ecoTEC 28 pro combi boiler and have just drained the CH system as had to re-route some pipes. I've filled it back up (bleeding from the last radiator back) and added sentinal x400. I'll empty it out after 4 weeks and replace with inhibitor. However, in the meantime my problem is...

    Parquet

Thanks but still a bit confused as the which grades of paper to use - I'm assuming i can miss out on the harsher grades as they're already pretty level and smooth? Also, what would be best - Varnish or HardWaxOil?

    Cistern cover

Thanks - the splashback idea seems like a good one. Just found a great deal in the perfect size on the net.

    Cistern cover

Not sure if I'm in the right forum but can anyone tell me where i can get a cistern cover panel - bit like a flush plate i guess but without the flushing part on... and bigger..? Basically I've a concealed cistern and am tiling the whole of the wall it's on. Rather than doing something...

    Parquet

Hi, I have recently moved into a house and three rooms have wish bone parquet flooring (tile size 9" x 2 3/4" x 3/4" thick). However, it's all in a pretty bad state - about 10 tiles are loose, 5 completely missing (revealing a black gloss bitumen(?) base) and all have layers of paint...

    Plastering Waves.

Tanks very much for the replies! Sorry - should have made myself clearer.. I'm a diy plasterer and learnt how with this website... I put a flat edge against the wall and the 'waves' i'm talking about are under half a mm deep. You can feel them but not see em. Maybe I'm just being fussy...

    Plastering Waves.

Hi I'm a novice plasterer - have just skimmed my 3rd wall. The walls had previously been plastered but it's in poor condition - skim was cracked, flakey and falling off. So I scraped off any loose plaster, PVA'd (5:1 night before, 3:1 shortly before putting on the mud) and re-skimmed. My...

    Dropping a bathroom ceiling..

Hi, I need to lower my bathroom ceiling to hide some ugly pipes and also to allow me space to move the lights about. Its made from concrete so can't easily chase new wiring... The questions - Anyone know an easy way to do it? Secondly, I've looked into using Gypsum CasoLine GRID...

    EcoTEC 28 pro combi boiler.

I have an ecoTEC 28 pro combi boiler. I recently drained the ch system so I could take the radiators off. I want to fill it back up now and not quite sure what to do. The manual doesn't really help. I would assume you just connect the filling pipe, turn back on the isolation valves and...

Air Bubbles on a Plaster Skim

Just to say - thanks very much. Neat PVA did the trick!

Air Bubbles on a Plaster Skim

No - I didn't check the suction. I don't know how too!! However, nothing seemed to be going off too fast so don't think it was this. My first paint coat was straight from the bucket  Could this have caused the bubbles? Or could painting it too soon after putting the plaster on...

Air Bubbles on a Plaster Skim

I bonded it twice with PVA - once at 1:5 and the other at 1:2. Was that too strong? The second bond coat was a bit tacky when I applied the plaster - does that make a difference? I thought I read somewhere that was a good thing...?

Air Bubbles on a Plaster Skim

I've recently moved to a property and the walls are in pretty bad condition - after I removed some dodgy wall paper I found the original paint and skim underneath peeling cracking and badly marked... Not having enough money at the moment to hire a plasterer I decided to have a go at skimming it...

    Fixing a Lead Pipe

I have a hairline crack in a lead pipe - anyone know how to fix it? Can I solder? I'd like to replace it but it would mean knocking down half a wall since it's in a really awkward position. I can't get over either end of it - since it comes out of and goes into the wall - and since the crack...
