Tested the screws - no reading. To be sure thou I took the plate off. Again no reading on just the earth wires with the neon.

Hi Space Cat, Still here! Yes, I put the other prod on the earth terminal in the back box to get those readings. I didn't try the earth wire with the neon. Cheers.

    kitchen worktop-solid wood or not?

The good thing with solid wood worktops is that if you do get a ding, dent or scratch you can sand them down and re-oil. The effect is nice with a cream Shaker door, better than a piece of plastic (laminate), not so expensive as granite (which I'm told still needs treating). Oiling takes a...

    Which Oil

I've used Liberon Tung Oil on our kitchen worktops (oak) thinned down the first three coats by 50% with white spirit then the final coat neat. I have read that previous finishes should be sanded off. I prefer the finish of Tung to Danish. If you don't want to sand off try the underside...

Bank Holiday 2 Way Light Switch!!

Managed to get home from work in daylight today and tried Spacecat's approach. Now working! I was confusing which cable was the two way cable due to the old switch layout compared with the new one. Lesson learn't I think! Just like to thank all that have replied.

Bank Holiday 2 Way Light Switch!!

Need some tips on using the multimeter I think. Any ideas of how to test the wire I have please? Would the permanent live be the red wire with the strapper (link) as this is the only one that lights the neon electrical screwdriver?

Bank Holiday 2 Way Light Switch!!

Haven't caught a cable and I didn't screw the plate into the back box. The black wires already had red tape on them. One one switch is two way. The red cable with the strapper lights the neon in my electrical screwdiver. That's the only wire to light the neon. Order a multimeter, should...

Bank Holiday 2 Way Light Switch!!

All the wires are stripped. Had a look at another two way switch in the house and it has the strapper link wire going from a COM on the two way to L2 on the one way. Can't try the last two suggestion yet as the good lady is cooking and previous attempts have fused the electrics. Thanks...
