New Turf laid, does it look damaged?

You shouldn't be cutting it for the first 6 weeks, and when you do you should only cut it on the mowers highest setting. Leave it alone for now and cut it late September but not short. It'll survive;grass is resilient. Water it during very dry spells in the evening only.

Can't seem to kill lawn weeds

Agritox would be my next choice

Painting roof fascia boards and soffits -Access equipment? £Quote?

Every decorator near me is fully booked and charging £150/day min. But instead of quoting a day rate to clients, quote an all inclusive fixed price.

What do I do with weeds killed by Roundup?

Gallup os a cheap concentrate glyphosate. Not as 'safe' as roundup, which has some other surfactants added. Re the big patch of stuff you want to kill...Yes, I'm going to suggest glyphosate! It kills brambles on a single treatment. Once they're dead I'd chop them up with a hedge trimmer and...

Can't seem to kill lawn weeds

I'd suggest getting someone in with a proper flat nozzle sprayer to give it a once over with relay. One treatment a year sees my lawns perfectly weed free. It's easy to overdose with a watering can and kill patches of grass. Don't dig up daisies; life's too short!

What do I do with weeds killed by Roundup?

No, don't do this. For a couple of reasons. One, as someone else has mentioned, you then disturb the soil and effectively cultivate little bits of it for dormant seeds to germinate or new ones to blow in and seed. Also, if you're going to hand-weed anyway, what's the point in weed killer? If...

Just buzz them off with a strimmer and brush up.

    Cant get stump out

Scrape all the gravel back. You need to dig around and under with a mattock to get it out.

Please help, experience of planning and what to do?

We've tried them on the phone and just been told they can't advise if the work needs planning. Very frustrating.

You could always just cut the stones around the fence posts

Please help, experience of planning and what to do?

Hi, My wife and I have just bought a house and have some work we'd like to do to bring it up to scratch, and I'm just wondering if anyone can suggest the best way to go about things here. The house is in a Town Preservation Area in Scotland. I'm led to believe this is similar to a Conservation...

Flat stone slabs are definitely the best idea. Gravel and lawns are a terrible mix.

    Removing attached car port

Thanks Frank. When you say nibble bits out, what tool would you be using? A grinder with suitable disc? Part of me is tempted to get a builder to do it, but the other part of me wants to do as much of the work on this house myself as possible, partly as a learning exercise, and partly for the...

    New turf query

You can literally walk on it every day after laying it and chances are it'll be fine, unless you're talking lots of treading, running, football games etc.

When and what to feed a new lawn

I wouldn't rely on a granular feed to kill weeds. It relies on grains sitting on broad leafs before dissolving. Just do a low dose evergreen now, and an autumn root feed later on. Spray the weeds with verdone seperately.

How Many Fence Posts With One Bag Of Postcrete?

2 bags per fence post. Use a proper post hole shovel, the clamp type, and keep the hole narrow. Dig 2ft down. Ram some small rubble down the gap once the post is put in place and wedge it down the sides firmly using the handle end of a mallet or similar. Then use the water first-postcrete-water...

    Removing attached car port

Has anyone got any idea what might be involved in removing this car port? It's attached to the garage and rendered the same. Is it likely to be a beam? Brick? Will a large grinder be a suitable tool? We don't live in the house yet but moving soon. Thanks!

What am I doing wrong with my lawn?!

Looks like you're using a wheeled rotary mower. Sharp blades aren't the problem. I suspect it's the ground conditions. I'd persist with a 3x annual feed with evergreen, and watering with a sprinkler every evening for half an hr when it's really dry.
