    out in the cold

What gives out the most CO2? Plasma TV? Or a patio heater? No prizes for guessing

    Council phone tapping

Quite sure MI5, 6 and other spooks make sensible use of the powers to tap lines etc. Billyo and no probs with that. But the local Council having the same powers because they "suspect" I may be flytipping? C'mon!

    Council phone tapping

Don't know if you read the article below in the Telegraph. It reports on how just about anybody, including your local council, can get approval to tap your phone and intercept your mail and email...

How long before this one gets banned?

Why is it that every time I watch a TV programme, be it House Re-location, House Decoration, a Soap, a Quiz, whatever (and now even the new Torchwood SF series) I stand a very high probability of having to watch homosexuals and/or lesbians. Do these people really make up such a huge...

    Women only car insurance companies

Noseall said 20% of all statistics are made up on the spot. Actually believe the figure to be 24.82% Bit like saying that it's a well known fact that 95% of accidents are caused by sober drivers. Next move is obvious?

    Women only car insurance companies

MW said It would be better to have women only roads I think ... Well segregated from proper safe male drivers. And extra wide car park spaces  *********************************************** And no hill starts or any need to reverse ever :P :P :P

    Women only car insurance companies

Yea but are they any cheaper? I think not. Wife and daughter both managed cheaper quotes from "normal" good-quality insurance companies

    Wine snobbery

I've been banging on for years about how people pre-judge a wine by its cost rather then its enjoyment. Now at last there is evidence! http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/1/hi/world/americas/7187577.stm What wine do you think offers best value? I think there's a load at £3 a bottle which are...

    Impeccable logic - part 2

Probably not helpful but odds and statistics always make me smile. For instance a man is terrified of being on the same flight as armed hijackers. He researches the subject and finds the odds on him being on the same plane as an armed man are 10,000 to 1. So to imporove his odds, he buys...

    Microwave oven leakage?

Other way is to put your mobile phone inside the microwave (oven switched off of course) and try and ring your mobile. If it rings it means the signal is getting through the seals. If the signal can get in, radiation can get out

    Air in system somehere

Boiler man sorted it! It was a partial restriction in the line to the expansion tank that was causing the relief valve to pop. Not enough water to leave a puddle, it evaporated as soon as it popped. All running now with no further air in radiators Thanks for the suggestions

    Bath/wc drain problem

Thanks Bahco Turned out to be a partially blocked manhole in front garden (which is about the same as your soil vent blockage I guess) Not a good way to start a Sunday morning! All fine now thanks. Happy Hour is 10.00 to 4.00

    Bath/wc drain problem

Time and events seem to have solved this problem. Seems it was been caused by a partial blockage in a downstairs w.c. The drains are obviously inter-connected somewhere and that partial blockage seems to have caused a vacuum in the upstairs drains, giving rise to this peculiar event. Now...

    Bath/wc drain problem

Happy New Year to all and thanks for your help this year. A brand new problem I need advice on please. For the first time ever the bath "gurgled" at me this morning with soap bubbles rising above the bath plughole when I flushed the w.c. Ran the bath-tap for a few seconds, flushed the w.c...

    Amstrad

Just replaced a 14 year old Ariston washing machine. It was still working (just) but very slow to start which sounded like the programmer was on the way out. Probably VERY inefficient by today's standards on energy and water consumption. Still have a 15 year old Hitachi TV. Had it repaired...
