Dowling rod wood type for monkey bars?

I got a hole saw, although the closest size is 32mm where the tube is basically 31.75mm, so may not be a tight fit (which I was hoping the wood glue would rectify). Else I can drill 30mm holes and use my dremel to expand..... but that now will be a pain to do on every hole. What depth of hole...

Fixing aluminium monkey bars to climbing frame

Hi all Following on from another discussion, I've got a climbing frame where I want to add some monkey bars. I've got some existing wood that I would prefer to use for the additional side (as it matches the frame perfectly and saves me some bucks) and I have bought some 1-1/4" aluminium tube for...

Dowling rod wood type for monkey bars?

Thanks. Do you think a 1" (25mm) hole in each side will be sufficient? Aluminium tube is 1-1/4". If more is needed, I may have to get additional timber as the one side that exists is only 70x70mm and I'm worried about weakening it. Was thinking of just using wood glue to secure.

Dowling rod wood type for monkey bars?

Thanks for the advice. I've forked out the additional cash to go for aluminium tube (1 1/4"). Now the issue of fixing them since I can't just attach using coach screws. I'll post that question separately as the title here is dealing with dowling rod. Thanks again for the assistance.

Dowling rod wood type for monkey bars?

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to get away without having to use different wood. I may try just drilling about 2cm depth hole for the rod and use coach screws. It will be a real pain though with the wood not being completely straight. Yeah, yeah, I know, I should use something else. It's...

Dowling rod wood type for monkey bars?

Hi all I was hoping to get some advice on the use of dowling rod as monkey bars for my kids climbing frame (outside). I say monkey bars but the kids will also be climbing on top, which is why I’m looking to fix the bars mid way between the sides, not on top which would be much easier, as it...

IP camera and NVR operations - explanation please

Hey all Please forgive the noob questions. I’ve started reading up on setting up my own CCTV system but can’t seem to find a straight answer on this: 1. For IP cameras, do you basically set the camera up with a folder to save to (whether that is a PC, NAS or NVR)? I know some have other...

Any damage to boiler on while all radiators off?

Thanks again all. You learn something new every day ;) It's clear my initial idea won't work as I planned (or at least not without additional expense). I'll have a look again at the full smart systems but might just wait a year or 2 to see how they evolve.

Any damage to boiler on while all radiators off?

Thanks for that. But if all TRVs are off, then wouldn't that isolate the flow and return circuit (cause the radiators are that only link between them) and result in no water being able to flow? Then the boiler would be trying to pump water down closed pipes and hence nothing would flow, and so...

Any damage to boiler on while all radiators off?

Thanks for the replies. It wouldn't be run 24/7 like that but the boiler would need to be on over the majority of needed heating time. The boiler would still have a standard scheduled controller but there would be times when all radiators are off and boiler still on. If there is a chance of...

Any damage to boiler on while all radiators off?

Hey all Just hoping someone can advise, if the central heating is on but all radiators are closed, will that… 1 - Damage the boiler in any way? 2 - Cost much? To give some context, I want to get the independent smart radiator controls (the ones where each radiator operates independently...

plasterboard fixings ripping holes....what am I doing wrong?

So I contacted Fischer. They sent over a new box that had been checked by their QA guy. Those work much better. I was impressed with their service. I'll definitely use them again.

plasterboard fixings ripping holes....what am I doing wrong?

The screws came with the box so would assume they are the correct ones. Although his go in so easily. There must be something wrong with mine.

plasterboard fixings ripping holes....what am I doing wrong?

Hi all Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong. I bought the Fischer Self-Drill Plasterboard Fixings (http://www.screwfix.com/p/fischer-self-drill-plasterboard-fixings-metal-35mm-100-pack/47347). First time I used them (coming from a land where everything is plaster/brick) but didn’t...

Is one plastic pipe to brass compression fitting better than another?

Thanks. I have the insert that mentioned for compression fittings. I don't remember the brand of pipe. It was dark grey plastic (or PVC?).

Is one plastic pipe to brass compression fitting better than another?

Thanks all. I bought the insert and soon will get down to doing the work. How tight should I make the compression fitting?

Is one plastic pipe to brass compression fitting better than another?

Hi all I have plastic pipe going to a brass garden tap. This was done badly before (by me) and resulted in the fitting coming loose and wasting a lot of water. I want to do it properly now but am very nervous from the last incident and want to make a fitting that will not come loose. From my...

what to use at barge board corners

Unfortunately I haven't yet installed them so can't take any pics. I've drawn the below image to hopefully explain what I mean. Where the 2 overlap, there will be that slit down the wall where there is no protection and water could get in. I could silicon them but I thought that this would be a...

what to use at barge board corners

Hi all I'm re-doing a flat mono-pitch roof and am a bit confused on what to use at the barge board corners. 3 of the sides will have the barge boards as in the following link. http://www.steelroofsheets.co.uk/products/polyester-paint-barge-board-200mm-x-200mm/ Everything I've found deals with...
