Internal door linings - fire linings

FD30 Fire Doors do not require lining as they are made thicker(44mm wide) and that is what gives them the 30 minute time, are quite heavy like 35Kg! and are of solid construction, so they will also require fire door approved CE marked ball bearing hinges, internally they are stuffed with some...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

What made you think I was worried about you either? have I ever used such like language in reply to your posts? But you chose to attack me indirectly by attacking my test method, you could easily have said like "You should avoid burning asbestos as small fibers can be released into the air which...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

No but burn test is perfectly OK, you are just being pedantic, we can debate on it and how would you know if a manufacturer of fire blanket claims his fire blanket is Fire resistant and is intended to cover oil pan fires, doesn't that subjects a fire blanket made out of woven asbestos vulnerable...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

Perhaps you got a better idea than to burn it, but you haven't got a clue, and how the **** is it stupidity when asbestos is used in stopping and preventing fire spreading and in applications where fire has to be contained, does it not burn then? think not stupid yourself. Just because I did...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

I don't easily get scared from minor asbestos fibers floating around in the air, I have done much worst breathing of asbestos than this tiny 1 minute test, I used to be a car mechanic back in 70s and we used to use a compressed air hose to blow off brake dust from drum brakes! and I have also...

    Creaking joists. Help!

I think once all the floor boards screwed down to the creaky joists, then the the whole structure becomes unitary, or as one and the noise should disappear. Hope for best.

Diagnostic tool for boiler repair technicians

Bernard, you don't need that, you have online manuals and flow charts, that navigates you like a satnav, you just program your destination (boiler make model etc) and press start navigation, you will need a satellite (multimeter) and if you reach a yes, turn right, if No, turn left, or if...

    Creaking joists. Help!

Spraying into any gaps between joints and moving timbers, noise is caused by friction, if two surfaces were able to slide over one another with less friction, the noise would stop or in the least reduce, but like I said furniture spray which is made of wax and possibly other chemicals, might...

    Creaking joists. Help!

Although not a tried and tested solution, might be worth trying spraying some Pledge furniture spray as it has lubricating properties, whether it will work on reducing the creaking noise I am not sure as I have nothing creaky to test it on, it does however stop creaky hinges when you haven't got...

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

You know what? You are master craftsman of the year! (y) Just put some wooden grout in the gap or if you are a Christian, put a cross to cover the line. If you are an atheist then put Darwin's bust to cover the gap, I love cats I would put a cats face across.:)

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

The only writing i can see on this is NABH. 03.03.93 (this looks like the date of manufacture, I thought it was build at the same time as my extension in 1992, but now I remember it was added short while after. I think I am going to leave it alone and renew the timber supports from below...

Tiling - what should I do with this?

I agree Doggit, larger size tiles look better when laid in brick work pattern. on many modern tiles they tend not to have any gaps and they seem like joined against each other without a gap, hence no grouting required, I am not sure if they actually do fill any grout.

Tiling - what should I do with this?

No excuses for such a bad job, for the price you are paying this is absolutely insulting, I wouldn't even get any cowboys to do such like workmanship even for free, as it would bugger up my expensive tiles. Just tell them to do it right or if they can't then leave, as they will end up ruining...

    Insulation building reg 'Change'

May be some structural failure or other shortfall and covering under the pretence of having to add more insulation, which normally takes less than a couple of hours to lay. When they did mine, they were in and out in an hour, and good job I had mine done as it cost me nothing personally and my...

    Problems with builder

Have you paid them all the money? if not retain substantial part of it and email or write to them that you would get another loft company or a some other reputable builders to get the job completed as well as get the new company to put those structural defects right at their expense, and deduct...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

Many Thanks, I just wanted to be sure, though I had my doubts, further more I think asbestos fibers are brittle, they would snap rather than stick out like tiny hair. The Asbestos Awareness body says if you are not sure, then it is safe to assume it is asbestos. But even as it is, I am not so...

    When considering in or out:

When relationships go wrong, man and woman starts to hate each other, and start living separately and move on in life, find new partners if they get lucky again, but in some cases they meet again and try and make up for the lost time and say sorry for separating in the first place, there can be...

Is there any Asbestos in these slates? pictures

As per title, I took a small sample and heated it under flames on cooker, it glowed red hot but still it held together solid, good fire resistance material from the canopy over a shed. I need to replace the timber supports as it is rotten bad and eaten away by wood lice, and wet rot, any time...

Need for IEE ban on 'mains-tied' digital appliance clocks?

No first of all you need to train a little in some diplomacy. In how you talk to others, when coming on open forums, and making irrelevant and insulting comments, such as calling or naming someone an Idiot, you see I have over 3000 posts, not in one single post have I ever called anyone an...
