    roof repair myself

I,d say around 5 grand maybe slightly more...hard to say cause it is dependant on location etc. Maybe time to look at getting upvc fascias etc while their up there with the scaffold being up. Its a no brainer for me....pay 5 or 6 grand now then you can relax for the next 30-40 years knowing...

    roof repair myself

Get a roofer in mate. Some jobs can be done yourself....roofings not really one of them....safely anyway. Need more detail....scaffold will probably be needed other times roof ladder is sufficient depending on height/pitch etc. Problem with that is if you rebedding the ridges or putting on...

Blocked Down pipe from guttering (Plastic)

Not sure that is one piece. A roofer would be able to disconnect that from the top without too much trouble i,d have thought. Then remove it from the top down. Unless its glued together. The downpipe is relatively cheap to replace tho worst case scenario. Think that would be the better...

    Ridge tile repair (moved)

Tbh as a homeowner i,d happily pay 100 to get that fixed regardless of a storm or not. 50,s probably too low tbh. Bearing in mind the roofer has to come to the job. Then probably go to the roofing supplier to get the correct ridge. Back again. Put up a ladder. Put up a roof ladder. Get up...

    Moss on roof

Yeah true pal. But its not exactly 60 years moss free. Moss is growing at a rapid pace nowadays. Theres roofs coated in it after twenty years. Do you just stay with a roof full of moss till its time to re-roof in forty years time? Moss blocking the gutters. Falling on the garden etc. Roof...

    Moss on roof

Pretty sure bleach does kill moss. But you,ll end up with 3 quarters of it still on your roof the other quarter overflowing your gutters. You,ll basically just make a bigger mess. You,d also need a lot of bleach to kill the moss enough to unnatach it from the tile its growing on. 850,s not...

    Moss on roof

The copper doesnt really work tbh. Maybe just a foot below where its placed. The copper ridge system that was sold years back was a bit of a myth in my experience. People used to put it on the ridge. But it would only really clean half a foot below it if the roof was already clean. Wouldnt...

    Moss on roof

Worth getting done imo. Moss on a roof looks unsightly. Really does make a difference in the appearance of your home. Plus the reality is moss on your roof isnt great for the drainage of the roof. Blocking the gutters and the moss than continually ends up in your garden. 850 sounds...

    Ventilating a mansard roof

Very much appreciated bud. They look a lot better than the universal ones i was looking at earlier thats for sure. Will cut the felt....hopefully be enough to get the room breathing. Guessing thats a warm flat roof....the insulation keeping the heat in the home....the vents should in theory...

    Ventilating a mansard roof

Cheers datarebal. Much appreciated. 4 across near the top inbetween the velux windows. Gonna look a proper eyesore but its better than condensation. Think their only wanting vents that side as the other side think might be owned by someone else ....pretty sure thats the back...just hoping...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

Cheers for the advice mate. Think it may be time to get a plumber in. Not all that sure it is the soil pipe. Only appears to be water going down it. Defo protrudes out the roof and is capped and a few pipes enter the house from the pipe. I m thinking soil pipe but not 100 percent sure. The...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

Defo out of my depth connecting it inside the house mate. Pretty sure its just needing to connect up the bottom of that light gray pipe to inside the drainpipe tho. Expected it to be a simple job. Getting the proper bit/s for its proving to be a nightmare tho. No photos of gutter. But...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

Not broken at the bottom. It was broken higher up mate. Someone had placed that light gray pipe on to it to try to solve the problem. Because its bigger than the 68mm pipe at the bottom. Water was coming out the bottom. I cut the cast a bit higher up than it was broken. The bottoms intact...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

Cheers buddy. The bottom half meter of pipe connect inside the house. But there is a small bit of 68mm pipe that protrudes out underneath that 82mm. Wondering if the ferco couplings would get a tight enough fit to make sure no water comes out the bottom.

    Soil pipe - small diameters

There's a pic there if its any help. The plastic pipe is 82mm. The plastic one that starts a little bit up the wall. Connected up all right above but water comes down the stack and goes on the outside of the pipe because the 82,s bigger than the 68. The very hot to me has a small bit of 68mm...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

Cheers for the reply mate. Pipe bit that needs replacing is at the bottom. Reckon a hopper would look out of place there. The soil pipe goes into the customers home in places....hence why its harder to just replace the whole thing. Was wondering if one of them flexiseal clamp things would...

    Soil pipe - small diameters

No sure if its any good in here...but will give it a go anyway. Said I,d replace a piece of soil pipe for a customer whilst doing a roof repair assuming it would be a quick easy job. Fast forward to about twenty different plumber merchants later without success. Problem is the pipe goes from...
