Oh, noticed last winter that the radiator was always hot. Took the head off and the pin was moving fine. Therefore assumed the head has gone but haven't replaced it yet.

There is inhibitor in the system. Had some radiators replaced last year. They only put a small bottle in though and we have 16 radiators, so maybe need some more?

I'll try and plug the gap. The space is currently above a bathroom that suffers from condensation on the wall and ceiling, and I'm guessing the missing insulation isn't helping.

That's perfect, thanks. It's good if it is more of a cosmetic thing then a defect as I don't much fancy getting up a ladder and doing that, plus I assume a decent roofer would be too busy for such a small job. Still, at least now I know what I should be asking for.

I was having a poke in the loft looking for leaks after the awful weather yesterday and noticed that the insulation is about six inches short of the gable end. Was this done intentionally or should I be adding some? What issues is the lack of insulation causing? Thanks!

Excuse my ignorance, but is that something that needs to be fixed to stop rain penetration or is it just a cosmetic issue?

Thanks for the response. Looks more like a strip that gets stuck to the side rather than something that goes underneath, or do you stick underlay on the side?

Hi, Wondered if anyone can tell me what this bit of the roof is called? I've circled a bit that's missing and wondered if it's important. Am I right in thinking it's not the wet verge, as that's the mortar above? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the responses. I've cleaned out the drain pipe part, and the hose. There was a bit of gunk in there, so hopefully that has improved things. I don't like taking them apart, because as you can see by the plumbers tape, the seals are terrible and they tend to leak in heavy rain...

Can any one help identify this type of drain pipe that connects to our water butts? It's in a house we bought so didn't install ourselves. Butts are filing really slowly so just want to check the installation instructions to check they are not at the wrong height or anything. Thanks!

Evening all. I've got a vaillant ecofit pure 830 boiler and I think this has an aav in it. I've heard the term before, but just checking I understand the purpose - it is a way of releasing any trapped air in the system (like bleeding a radiator would). Is this correct?
