    Tiling onto old tiles?

Just out of interest. I tested a patch by removing 2 tiles and it seemed to leave all the old fixing adhesive on the wall. Now I guess its removing this that will mess up my old plasterboard? If so can I just not level the old adhesive off with new adhesive then start fresh? This way I...

    Tiling onto old tiles?

Ah thank you gcol, I must use that search function  After reading those posts I have no doubts that when done right, new tiles will stick to old tiles adequately. My only worry is the weight of the whole new tiled wall may be too much for my poor stud wall. The reason I worry is...

    Tiling onto old tiles?

Hi, I am just about to tile my bathroom from floor to ceiling. There is one wall that is completely tiled already and I just wondered if I could apply new tiles over the top of the old ones, rather than rip the whole lot down first? The tiles on the wall are ceramic and seem sound...

    Bathroom Stud wall help

The wall looks like a stud wall with standard plasterboard, skim and then tiled and it seems ok. I am guessing the condensation is the main problem causer? I don't want to risk it anyway though so thank you again for your advice. Fingers crossed I find some tile backer board on saturday :)...

    Plastering advice please

Thanks for the advice guys. The slight bumps on my patch work are not bad at all, as in you cant see them but feel them if you run your hand over. The bits I had to filler are the edges of the old plaster againsts my new plaster so I shouldn't have that problem this time round. I just...

    Bathroom Stud wall help

When you say wet area do you mean like a wet room? I ask as my bathroom will not be a wet room, just a standard bathroom that I fancy having tiles in. Also can I get cement tile backer board from my local wickes or builders merchants or is it a specialist product? 1 Last question. I was...

    Skirting and filler

Ok thanks I will try that :) 1 more question. I have used pine skirting and want it to be darker. I was going to use medium brown briwax but I am unsure wether this will be ok over the wood filler I have used or will the wood filler stain a different colour? If not can anyone recommend...

    Skirting and filler

Thank you for the quick reply. The gaps I am filling are mainly 1-2 mm with the odd going up to 4mm max. ANd the skirting is fixed ok but it does move. Any atempts at screwing it in firming and trying to pull the skirting in has resulted in lumps of my wall coming away :).
