    New pro scaffolder in town.

I have a mesh trap door thingy that I have to attach. And also a swingy door thing for my first lift. But I’ve not made the opening/access the right sizes. A bit of jiggery pokery should sort. Got plenty of time as I’ve not even submitted my building reg plans yet. So I suppose I can add this...

Asbestos soffit covered with UPVC. Should I be concerned

That asbestos cement board doesn’t contain as much asbestos as the old lagging does. Plus the fibres are bound in cement type stuff and won’t become free and respirable. Will be perfectly safe just sitting there. Unless you drill or sand it. Just make sure you or anyone working up there knows...

New build - does someone know what has caused this brick discolouration?

I had this on a newly built garden wall. Moisture leaving the bricks bringing salts to the surface. use a dry stiff brush to clean off. Don’t get it wet or you’ll compound the problem. Agree it looks gutter related.

Why is window reveal damp, and what can I do?

I’m no expert, but I’m assuming it’s condensation. Warm moist air on a cold surface. But why? Why do you have condensation all over your windows? My double glazing doesn’t condensate like that. I suppose I’m suggesting you have a lot of humid air in your house.

    New pro scaffolder in town.

Following on from my “Scaffolding scam?” Post a couple of weeks back….. https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/scaffolding-scam.581033/ I am now an expert pro scaffolder level 10… I think… have a look at my creation, critique or have a laugh. Feels solid - gone belt and braces. Has 4 wall ties, 2...

    Cracked render

I too would get some ivory mastic and fill the gap. You’ll still be able to see it but at least the colour will be similar compared to a black crack. Be careful if you are considering painting over. That monocouche render type stuff - k-rend, Webber and the likes apparently has some witchcraft...

    Driveway Installer Not Laying Membrane

I stuck a membrane on the soil and then my MOT on top. Belt and braces only. Probably totally unnecessary as I'd got over excited with the mini digger and gone down too deep and ended up having to lay nearly 12" MOT. 75 tons of the stuff. An expensive mistake. But could probably take a tank now...

    Scaffolding scam?

I'll have that as number 5 and demote getting in a ruck to 6. Not my first rodeo.

    Scaffolding scam?

That was number 5 on my list. My heirachy of worry was: 1. Being scammed 2. Being killed 3. Being arrested 4. Smashing property 5. Getting in a ruck

    Reducing Scaffolding Noise

If you were in Stoke today, you'd have had a field day. Some clown with no experience was taking down a load of scaffolding banging and crashing and swearing like a sailor. Some people.

    Scaffolding scam?

You all mistake me for a regular DIYer…… I have watched about 6 YouTube videos now and if I was in the scaffolding business, I’d be training the trainers…. Pretty much God level. Pilsbury erections here I come. I also have the experience of successfully “striking” (scaffolder talk) a 3 lift...

    Scaffolding scam?

I’ve just gone off a Google search. Either way, I save £500 when I sell it. If I don’t get scammed or beaten up trying to buy it or killed when it collapses. I’d take that risk to save a tenner.

    Scaffolding scam?

I recon by research about £400-500/week. I’m doing this loft conversion myself so would want the scaffold up for months. Many months…… The cost of buying it (along with the risk) is a week of hire. I then get to sell it at the end. Free hire.

Person is out at work apparently but their parents will be in all day. At least I can knock and check the story…….

    Scaffolding scam?

That is how I intend to pay. After locked and loaded. Tomorrow is d-day. Getting there at 1030, then beaten up by 1100 by the real scaffolders, then arrested and thrown in the nick having lost £500. Or come away smelling of roses with my free scaffold hire. You take your chances…. And ye of...
