    Internal Wall Stain - Condensation?

I think I agree it's condensation. Is it possible for a small gap in the Celotex to produce enough water/moisture to stain a 150mm diameter damp patch? How do I resolve the issue?

    Internal Wall Stain - Condensation?

Sorry for the delay in responding and thank you for the reply. The damp patch is in just one space. The picture is of the inside and underneath the box gutter. We have had -4 C for the last 3 nights with no damp, but today Friday, the weather has warmed up and the damp patch has appeared this...

    Internal Wall Stain - Condensation?

I would appreciate your thoughts. Please see attached photograph, sorry, but is not a finished build picture. I have an extension with a central box gutter, on 2 occasions in the last week we have noticed a small (100mm dia) stain on the inside plasterboard (always the same place). This...

    Best Strategy - Builder Issues

I would appreciate some thoughts on a situation that I find myself in. I have had a single storey 20 sq m kitchen extension completed over the last 5 months which is now 90% complete (outstanding issues: repointing of garage door that builder bodged, replastering the ceiling due to poor quality...

    Individual RCBO

Just one at present, 100 Amp at 30ma.

    Individual RCBO

There are some 30 LED down lights on the lighting circuit. So RCBO's for each circuit is the proper option, but may not be mandatory according to the electrical requirements, is that right?

    Individual RCBO

I believe I am talking about RCBO's as they provide over current protect and earth leakage.

    Individual RCBO

Yes I understand that the work needs to be notified to the council. Not something that I would undertake, just wanting to be knowledgeable about the requirements.

    Individual RCBO

So the new installation is within the existing consumer unit. The new circuits are 5 in total: Ring Main, Electric Oven, 2nd Electric Oven, Lights and Electric Hob.

    Individual RCBO

Hi I need to check the electrical requirements (17th addition and Part P) for RCBO's on a new kitchen extension. Do all the different circuits i.e Ring Main, Cooker, Hob, Smoke/Fire Detectors, etc require their own individual RCBO? Or is one single RCBO (30ma 100Amp) supplying all circuits...

Is there any consequences if its not done?

Block and beam floors covered in mortar slurry

It's my floor, and it wasn't slurry'd before the DPM went down. So I was trying to establish the reason for slurry and any consequences from it not being done.

Block and beam floors covered in mortar slurry

Hi I would like to know the reasons why a block and beam floor is covered in a slurry mix? Many thanks

Plaster Board on Block and Beam Floor

This is what I thought should be the case, i.e no plasterboard within 150mm of the block and beam floor. However, the builder and plasterers are telling me that it's OK to have the plasterboard going down to within 25mm of the block and beam floor. Not sure what to do next.

Plaster Board on Block and Beam Floor

The drawings called for 100mm fibre in the walls and 50mm of celotex internally. For the floor 150mm of celeotex was required by the designer. The dmp does not go up inside the cavity, if you are referring to my mock up photograph and the bit of black plastic with the 3 chunks of celotex on it...

Plaster Board on Block and Beam Floor

Hi So on the walls, we have outer brick, 100mm of fibre insulation, internal thermalite block, 50mm of celotex and finally plaster board and skim. The 50mm of celotex on the internal wall was required by SAP's. The floor will be made up of concrete block and beam, damp proof membrane, 150mm...

Plaster Board on Block and Beam Floor

Hi Thanks for the reply. I'am afraid I am not a builder so your reply didn't mean a lot to me (my fault), any chance of a laymans explanation?

Plaster Board on Block and Beam Floor

I would appreciate your help again with my extension, so I need to check that my builder is following good building practice. To explain the situation: I have a block and beam floor and the ends of the beams are mounted on the new extension internal wall and a damp proof course. The walls...
