Mould at the top of the walls

This makes complete sense, just having a little trouble working out how to get to it as the roof angle is narrow and space is tight! Yes, bungalow is heated when needed, usually an hour or so in the morning and a hour or 2 in the evening during the winter. And yes, it's been cleaned several...

Mould at the top of the walls

Thanks for the replies. Not sure how we can improve the ventilation much more. Bathroom and cooker are vented outside. Clothes are usually either dried in the condenser tumble tryer or in a drying cupboard that has a dehumidifier in it. So I guess I'll need to head up into the loft and check...

Mould at the top of the walls

The insulation seems to go all the way to the edges, but I'll double check that. Not sure on the wall construction, brick on the outside, block inside with some cavity insulation. Not sure how to tell what it is. No idea of the humidity, how would I measure that?

Mould at the top of the walls

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any ideas why we get mould at the top of the walls in some rooms. It's a 1960s bungalow, 4 out of the 6 rooms end up with mould at the top of the walls, when it meets the ceilings. We used to have a lot more issues, but we've managed to get rid of it in...

    Bowed Roof

It's all just white plastic, similar to the fascia., nothing to see without removing it I guess, and knowing my skill level, probably breaking it! I think it might be worth trying to raise it again as a temporary fix, but otherwise it's looking like it'll be better just to replace it. We've...

    Bowed Roof

They're not actually doing anything, you can wobble them. They don't feel like they are attached to anything. Terhe Maybe right I think there is a similar house (attached) a few doors down with a much smaller overhang and doesn't sag. I guess a post is looking the simplest option. I'm...

    Bowed Roof

No idea on the construction. I originally assumed that there would just be wooden joists running front to back, that seems to make the most sense, but seeing as the roof is completely flat until after the wall, then suddenly dips, maybe not. How would I find out?

    Bowed Roof

Slightly more recent pic of the roof, it's definitely getting worse over time.

    Bowed Roof

No, appreciate the bowing wasn't his fault, but he said he would sort it while replacing the roof, as part of the cost of the job. Seemed like the ideal time to do it while the roof was stripped off. Also damaged a few things, generally left things in a mess (broken tiles, broken fascia, broken...

    Bowed Roof

The rest of the roof is fine, it's just the metre that protrudes out past the walls. Ideally didn't want to add an additional pole as it's in front of the window and a parking space. It used to be straight/flat a few years ago, then slowly started bowing.

    Bowed Roof

Hi All, We've got a section of roof over the old garage that is slowly starting to bow (pic attached). We had the felt roof replaced about a year ago and fell out with the person doing it over this, so we can't go back to them. This is probably a stupid question, but Is this a job for a...

    Velux window/roof issue

New window? My concern is how the water is getting in and where. You think the joints could be an issue? Seems like quite a lot coming in, could that really be down to the joints?

    Velux window/roof issue

Hi all, Any thoughts on what the issue might be the attached photos? It's a small extension with a Velux window, been fine for 15 years or so and has now started leaking as fair bit. Seems like it's been leaking unnoticed for quite a while and finally come through the plaster work. . I'm...

    Playhouse soaking up water?

It's not that big tbh, about 8ft x 9ft, but it's quite high with a small 'upstairs'. I was thinking a car jack might work, but it's still getting that under there in the first place as it's only about an inch off the ground. Using a plank to lever a corner at time might do it, although the...

    Playhouse soaking up water?

Cheers for all the replies, pretty much what I'd expected, should have known better in the first place. I've got a shed load of block paving? Would that be any good with some a strip of DPC on top? Although might be awkward to get under there. Failing that I like the idea of some composite...

    Playhouse soaking up water?

Hi all, I have a small playhouse set on a slab base. With the rain we've been currently having it seems to be soaking up water from the bottom and also letting some in where some of the tongue and groove joins are. The water coming in is only on the side that the rain/wind generally comes...

    Removing/converting wasted space

Got a narrow bedroom in the house, used to be a garage, it's about 3m wide for the most part. A large portion of one of the long walls is taken up by a stud wall that is protruding about 30cm from the rest. I've attached a (badly drawn) image for reference. There is a cupboard with an...

    Kitchen tap won't turn off!

Yeah, I've given up! Didn't even know taps had cartridges, thought it would just be a washer or something simple. I've ordered a new tap. Thanks!
