Correctly exiting cable from external conduit

No different to going up to a JB on the side for entry is there in terms of exposed cable?

Correctly exiting cable from external conduit

Unless I'm missing something the side/bottom access notches you see in the base is just big enough for a ethernet cable, they're not remotely close to 20mm in diameter?

Correctly exiting cable from external conduit

I'm currently in the process of fitting a couple of external PoE cameras to our townhouse property and have a query around fiting the conduit, more so around how the ethernet cable should exit it whilst keeping the conduit waterproof. The camera in question is the "Reolink Duo 2 Floodlight"...

110mm waste pipe into sewer pipe

Sounds good to me! I think I've discovered what I need now, something like the "MCALPINE PUSH-FIT SINGLE SOCKET DRAIN CONNECTOR BLACK 110MM" into the drain (this was the key bit I was missing) and then perhaps a "FLOPLAST PUSH-FIT 92.5° SINGLE SOCKET BEND BLACK 110MM" onto the 90° pan connector...

No need for a fly lead on this shaver socket?

Found some spare "2 x 1.0 + 1.0" cable lying around (I believe used for lighting circuits). Looks like ideally that would be + 1.5 to match the circuit, I'll pop to wilko and grab some with some sleeving later. Thanks!

110mm waste pipe into sewer pipe

Currently redoing a bathroom myself (slowly). I've had a plumber and electrician out to do some of the more challenging changes but trying to learn and do as much of it myself where safe/sensible to do so. The toilet is moving from one side of the bathroom to the other and was expecting to...

No need for a fly lead on this shaver socket?

I didn't get the email notifications for these replies, apologies but thanks for the replies. No need to change the whole backbox, there's nothing wrong with it as-is. Yep there's a rubber grommet around the cable entry point. I'll have to dig around but I don't think I've actually got any...

No need for a fly lead on this shaver socket?

Doing a bathroom refit at the moment and bought a new chrome shaver socket to replace the old plastic one. I pulled the old one off (after isolating the mains) and found it's a metal back box - which isn't surprising as most in our 1996 house are. Would I be right in thinking the bottom screw...

Routing ethernet cable safely through wall to doorbell

I generally always knock off the mains breaker before doing anything that could be near electrics so I'll be safe either way. I'm just trying to do the work in a way that doesn't mean I have to call the electrician to patch up some torn cables! I can patch up drywall, I can't patch up mains cables.

Routing ethernet cable safely through wall to doorbell

I'll have a proper check after work today but I have a feeling they're metal boxes. I will have a proper actual measure too but I have a feeling the doorbell position isn't quite directly opposite the switch. I did think that about the SDS bits moving cables out of the way, although like you...

Routing ethernet cable safely through wall to doorbell

Yeah I've been meaning to check that too, I'd also assume the cables are going from the top down into the lightswitch but I wasn't sure how the ground ones were ran. Surely the wire has to come down a wall at some point to reach from somewhere them right.... But as you say, this house has been...

Routing ethernet cable safely through wall to doorbell

I've had a Ring video doorbell for a few years now and I'm finally looking to get away from their subscription based cloud model. I'm looking at going for a more reliable POE option whilst I'm at it too - specifically the Reolink POE doorbell. I'm very familiar with the tech side of things but...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Great, I'll go with that then. The marley adapters have a larger outer diameter than what goes into the socket by a decent bit. That means it won't fit into the bottom socket in that picture as the floor is in the way if that makes sense. It would also be slanted towards the floor instead of...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Can't believe it, although I probably should have noticed.... I've got around to getting access to the other side of the boss branch to drill out the shower waste socket and was greeted with this. I'd imagine it's always been like it but the boss has been fitted at a slight angle, blocking...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated and puts my mind at ease when the walls are back up. Saves me having to drive 40 minutes to the nearest place selling the Marley connections for another too! Good to know about the branch v boss differences but I don't think I'll ever be getting to the...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

The other option doesn't seem ideal - I might be completely wrong there though and it might be fine, definitely possible. Pic attached, blue is with the pipes opposite and is where I was planning for the basin to go from, red is what I'd need to do if going in the same side. So would be a couple...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Thanks Jim, I'm not sure why there's conflicting information when I've tried googling it but that diagram makes it very clear and looks like my original plan is back on. It'll involve less pipework bends from the basin if they can go in opposite sides vs the one side so that's the ideal setup.

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Thanks! There's no reason I can't run both into the same side, it just has to be the opposite from the current entry point so in that case I'll run the shower into the bottom one to keep the pipe low with good slope and have the basin into the top one, same side. Cap off the current open socket...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Thanks for the advice, it is quite surprising too as I've not seen it mentioned anywhere yet! As you say I can't imagine many follow it and I won't be either. I've realised this evening I can likely cap off that sink waste pipe and have both shower and sink go in from the sockets on the other...

Soil pipe cross flow between sink and shower

Attached is a ground floor picture of the soil pipe in our home. There was originally a toilet which has now been permanently capped off and you can also see a sink waste pipe attached. My plan is to drill out one of the 50mm sockets directly opposite the current sink waste for a new 40mm...
