    Best tool for cutting travertine!

I have a flat bed diamond wheel cutter that does an ok job but tends to leave small chips out of the face of the tile. Do the Rexon radial cutters I've seen on ebay leave a cleaner cut or is there a better tool out there.

    Which Plasterboard.

Starting bathroom refit shortly which will involve stripping off old tiles/plaster etc right down to the brickwork and removing the ceiling. I plan to use plaster board and tank the shower enclosure and around the bath. Should I use the vapour check plasterboard or will the standard type be ok...

    Lagging CH pipes

I know CH copper pipes that run in unoccupied areas,loft/roofspace cellars etc should be lagged but I'm not sure if pipes that run under groundfloor floorboards should be. The floor is suspended about 3' above the ground so I would have thought the pipework would suffer heat loss. On the other...

    Drain pump wiring

Fitted the g+b wire to the terminal Marked L and it seems to work although the pumps bearing have failed so it's not very efficient and not draining sufficiently to allow machine to go to fast spin speed. Machines a pain to to pull out but I've ordered a new pump so when that arrives I will...

    Drain pump wiring

Just removed wiring from drain pump [red and green + black wire] on my hoover quattro system 1300 washing machine and I was sure the green + black wire went to the terminal marked L and the red to N but surely red is usually live and should go to L and green + black to N. Can someone please...

    HW vent pipe

Thanks for the input ChrisR and Gplumb but would it be better to do as Steve has recommended particularly the 450mm offset to avoid heat being lost through the vent. It's not to much trouble to change layout and I would prefer to achieve as near as possible to the optimum set up.

    HW vent pipe

Thanks again Steve, if I go straight to the vertical it only measures 270mm so will it be ok to put in a 90 degree bend to gain the extra length required. Yes I did buy a 3/4" to 22mm fitting for the pump pipe

    HW vent pipe

Two days ago I installed 140 l indirect cylinder and 50 gallon loft tank, since installed I them I have a small amount of air coming out of the HW taps. The only differences from the old system are the increased size of the tanks, a surrey flange (ready for shower pump with valve closed) and...

    ch programmer buzzing

My CH programmer honeywell ST1700, has started to make a buzzing sound when he hot water comes on. I noticed there are 2 black components that look like relays which I think may be the source of the noise. Is it possible to replace the relays or will I have to buy a new programmer, if a new...
