Starting bathroom refit shortly which will involve stripping off old tiles/plaster etc right down to the brickwork and removing the ceiling. I plan to use plaster board and tank the shower enclosure and around the bath. Should I use the vapour check plasterboard or will the standard type be ok. Once plasterboarded I'll tape and fill joints then tank the wet areas is there anything else i need to do or can I then tile directly onto the plasterboard.

I would only use Moisture resistant in a bathroom. If your tanking/waterproof wet areas then you could use ordinary wallboard but why mix the 2 types as the cost difference isn’t that much; don’t use vapour check/Duplex that’s not what it’s for. You can tile directly onto the PB but if it's not being fully tiled I will skim first; at least above the tile line. Personally I always use tile backer board in wet areas rather than PB, slightly more expensive but you don’t have to tank it & you know it’s going to last minimum 10 years & could do 20 or even more. Use only a quality trade adhesive & grout, flexible if tiling onto boards.

take a bite of the corner of each which ever tastes best is the way forward
