    Hammie's Loft Conversion

There were a few reasons I decided to get rid of it: - No lintel, one could be added, but in order to get sufficient bearing width, I think either the top of the window would need dropping, or pull the RHS in. - It's a very low window, the bottom of it sits pretty much at floor height...

    Stair Handrail Detail

I'm currently planning out the staircase for a new loft conversion, and I've come across a problem. It's a simple straight staircase, but there's a stud wall that starts part way up the stairs, my problem is how do I finish off the handrail where it meets the stud wall? It will be partially...

    Hammie's Loft Conversion

It's been an exciting few days, the builders have now nearly finished, they just need to return on Monday to paint the outside of the bricked up window and remove the scaffolding. DIY loft conversion aside the electrician.

Possibly a silly question, why do you need a polythene vapour barrier? Desn't the taped joints already make a vapour control layer?

    Hammie's Loft Conversion

No they've not specified (yet), the new steels are due in 3-4 weeks so I was going to arrange for them to inspect those plus the windows at the same time. I spoke to building control and told them i was starting, they weren't interested in inspecting at that stage so I've just continued. Is...
