Limited void in ceiling space but would like quiet bathroom fan

Got limited space above a suspended ceiling where I have fitted flat duct today. Cheaper basic normal (not extra quiet) 4" fans seem to require much less room above the ceiling for me to mount into my 90 degree duct fitting. They would be fine (and might even require an extra inch of round duct)...

    Condensate pump question

It looks like what I have should be ok then. I expect the long run of hose and the fact the pump is needing to pump upwards nearly 5m is exacerbating any settling after the pump has stopped running. The idea of a small trap was just one that came to mind that might stop air entering the...

    Condensate pump question

It maybe isn't necessary, it just doesn't seem ideal. As bernardgreen is saying, I suspect some water is going back in the direction of the pump.

    Condensate pump question

I tested the small Grundfos condensate pump yesterday that I have ran hose across my loft for. It's a long run of hose (around 5m upwards from pump with a good gravity drop thereafter to come back down and catch my kitchen sink waste pipe- around 10m from the head- just within acceptable limits...

Bit like syphon effect/condensate pump question

I tested the small Grundfos condensate pump yesterday that I have ran hose for. It's a long run of hose (around 5m upwards from pump with a good gravity drop thereafter to catch my kitchen sink waste pipe- around 10m from the head- just within acceptable limits). I have the hose simply...

Seriously puzzled after investigating washing machine not draining. Pls Help!

Although I'd swapped the machine over I then investigated the above with the machine plumbed in in my garage. I've now done 4/5 washes without issue. I hate not being able to explain the problem though. As said above, I'm going to have to put it down to something stopping it draining and my...

Grundfos Conlift 1 LS condensate pump wiring/alarm

Thanks. The question is mainly to let me give the unit a test to make sure the pipework ok but also wanted to understand the outlet cable for the alarm

Grundfos Conlift 1 LS condensate pump wiring/alarm

I'm not grasping this particularly well, sorry. Are you saying the alarm cable powers the boiler (and cuts out if a problem) OR in some way wires into the boilers own power supply? How can it's live and neutral be wired into the boilers live?

Grundfos Conlift 1 LS condensate pump wiring/alarm

Thanks for your reply but sorry I don't understand! Is it not the case that the outlet supply on the pump comes on if there is a problem? How would that stop the boiler firing if it was wired into the boiler's electrical supply..?

Grundfos Conlift 1 LS condensate pump wiring/alarm

Hi Folks Could anyone clarify the wiring/flex outlet from the unit please? Am I right the outlet becomes a live 240v if triggered by the tank becoming too full- mainly to enable sounding an alarm? If this is the case, do people wire a 240v sounder to it? From the instructions it appears some...

Seriously puzzled after investigating washing machine not draining. Pls Help!

Certainly remain quite mystified about this. I put the parts back together again without the ball in place and the machine worked fine. Put the ball back in and machine still fine Going to have to put it down to either a blockage in the hose or the pump maybe stopped by something caught or...

Seriously puzzled after investigating washing machine not draining. Pls Help!

Just thinking the ball at the top of the sump can't have been stuck in any way as the water drained away from the drum through the pump filter when I unscrewed the front cap Anyone got any ideas on this?

Seriously puzzled after investigating washing machine not draining. Pls Help!

I actually just googled this. The ball seems to be a common feature in modern machines. It seems it does pressure up to sit beside the drum, acting as a valve. There does seem however to be a possibility it was stuck but I'm not sure on that. It seems you can just junk it though, so I suppose...

Seriously puzzled after investigating washing machine not draining. Pls Help!

BEKO WMD261W. About 4 years old. Symptoms were not spinning properly and leaving water in drum. I have discovered it wasn't draining at all. Does seem to be running a bit strangely but I presently put that down to it not draining. It doesn't seem to want to get up to a spin speed. I've taken...

Kink in condensate causing gurgling in boiler question

It shouldn't have had any uphill areas but a bit of the hose did- this is what I put right last night by clipping it back in place. An engineer fitted 60cm length of 22mm below the boiler a few months ago (to replace 60cm of 15mm pipe that was coming off 22mm) and he obviously undid some of the...

Kink in condensate causing gurgling in boiler question

It looks as though a plastic fitting has been added in to the section of kitchen sink waste pipe below the boiler. It looks like a part designed to take a washing machine hose.

Ok, thank you for the clarification.

Kink in condensate causing gurgling in boiler question

Do you mean a trap where the condensate joins the waste pipe? The washing machine hose fitted is just tee'd in to the kitchen sink waste pipe. Might the washing machine hose be gundged up.? Didn't think much chance of that.

Kink in condensate causing gurgling in boiler question

Hi I have a washing machine hose taking away condensate on a small 2-3 year old Vokera. The hose had popped out from a clip and I'm pretty sure caused it hot to drain properly (I could see an area the opposite of running away) and hence the gurgling. This actually happened before after the...

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

A good suggestion and something I gave some thought to. However the membrane would have to cover the whole area of decking for this to work and the 3 outer edges (all edges excl the gutter end) of the area under the decking would be difficult to seal. Water is likely to find it's way off the...
