Hi

I have a washing machine hose taking away condensate on a small 2-3 year old Vokera. The hose had popped out from a clip and I'm pretty sure caused it hot to drain properly (I could see an area the opposite of running away) and hence the gurgling. This actually happened before after the engineer installed it- it was me who fitted the clips to try and stop it happening again.

We ran the CH and some water but the gurgling/noise persisted. Should, or might it, resolve itself after a short while? I'm hoping it will to save a call out.

Thanks

more likely to be the condensate trap is blocked , they really need a good flushing out every year when the boiler is serviced

Do you mean a trap where the condensate joins the waste pipe? The washing machine hose fitted is just tee'd in to the kitchen sink waste pipe. Might the washing machine hose be gundged up.? Didn't think much chance of that.

No the condensate trap inside the boiler, Vokeras are really prone to this and have to be removed and cleaned every year at the annual service, it is technically part of the flue so you need to get someone in, it will shut down completely if it is this and it is not cleaned

am i reading that right , where exactly is this washing machine hose connected too ??

It looks as though a plastic fitting has been added in to the section of kitchen sink waste pipe below the boiler. It looks like a part designed to take a washing machine hose.

Does it travel uphill at any point between the boiler and the spigot connection on the sink trap? If so then that needs rectifying so it has a constant fall to the outlet. Should all be in overflow as well - hose sounds like a bodge.

It shouldn't have had any uphill areas but a bit of the hose did- this is what I put right last night by clipping it back in place. An engineer fitted 60cm length of 22mm below the boiler a few months ago (to replace 60cm of 15mm pipe that was coming off 22mm) and he obviously undid some of the WM hose from a couple of clips and didn't clip it back.

What do you mean by should all be in overflow?

The white pipe that carries the condensate is overflow pipe and is usually used throughout until either connecting to internal waste pipes or passing to the exterior where it needs to change to 32, 40mm waste pipe or, at the very least be lagged. Using a section of washing machine hose is not usual practice.
