isolating CH side from combi to identify pressure loss

Hi folks (Combi is a 17/18 year old Vokera Linea+) I posted before about this and I admit I should've got on with investigating it better but I've been nursing the boiler along topping it up. It's losing a bit more again now, I'd say it'd drop 1 bar in about 4 days. It'd drop from 1.5-2 bar to...

    New mira electric shower mystery

It was indeed the pull cord isolator. Glad it's fixed but frustrating with it being the very first thing I took a look at. The cables looked ok but the tell tale sign was a bit melted black plastic (I didn't notice). A new shower replaced and on and off the wall 3 times in total! Grrr Surely...

    New mira electric shower mystery

Thanks. My dad has a spark coming in the morning so he can certainly check. A couple of years ago the pull cord switch burnt out. I looked at it yesterday and it looked alright. He can check this too.

    New mira electric shower mystery

Please help. I'm not often baffled and about to give up but I am with this! Went to replace ancient mira sport (it lit up but zero flow/water). I accept no proper diagnosis here but assumed it had given up in some way. Bought new mira jump 8.5. Fitting went ok, water on, power on and all I get...

Thoughts on trying to render over this

Thanks but that video is starting off on a surface quite different from a shiny tiled surface! Why are they using the mesh there? When you mentioned mesh I pictured something like metal mesh screwed to the tiled bricks. Appreciate the input but I’m not sure that applies here?

Thoughts on trying to render over this

Thanks for replies . There were window apertures changed to doors previously just underneath where I photographed. The surface you can see just below the tiles looks to me like it is probably rendered; there was steel RSJ put in behind there, that’s how it looks patched. Re replies Never...

Thoughts on trying to render over this

It's walls of an outdoor patio area in Edinburgh to the rear of a house which has these tile fronted bricks from c1890-1900. The area would look so much better if it could be smooth rendered. I asked a firm I know who do rendering work and he didn't see it as a good idea! Seems unlikely the...

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Thanks to both above. So, what does a person normally do to just drain out just the boiler please? I am happy to try and do this I was on the cusp of replacing the boiler (It'll be 18+ years old) but just recently am thinking of relocating the position which will mean obtaining a building...

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Got the new AAV to replace the leaking one. Could you advise on fitting it, I assume I'll need to drain down the heating, or.... water off at main? Obviously kill electricity to boiler being step 1 Thanks

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Cheers and thx to both. Yes, I half wondered if leaving it loose was probably the case.

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Cheers for that. Magic. If it's an automatic air vent (I appreciate it is!) why the plastic cap on it?

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Many thanks. That's quite encouraging as I'd like to nurse the old girl along for a little bit longer if I can. Makes some sense then that it's probably sealed itself again now. How should I go about sourcing one? Grundfos pump, so will it be a grundfos particular part for that pump or is it a...

What does this do please? Part of pump in combi boiler

Water dripped out of my old Vokera Linea+ combi this morning. I think this may have happened before a long while ago. In use again today I think the dripping has actually stopped. I can see where it's coming from. See picture the brass lid which seems to be part of the pump has (a bit like) a...

    Summer combi boiler pressure drop

Hi thanks for the above replies Yes I also now remember the expansion vessel being checked and recharged/pumped up, what ever gets done to it. Not sure what you mean re gland valves but it was all looked over. The boiler was looked at regarding pressure dropping roughly 1.5 years ago. As I was...

    Summer combi boiler pressure drop

Thanks. Hmm yes that now jog's my memory. He didn't seem to want to shut off the valves (see pic) because he said that type always leak if you move them (suppose are quite old. 18 yrs approx). Would you agree those are maybe best left alone..? Think it'll have to be a suck it and see scenario...

    Summer combi boiler pressure drop

Hi there’s a bit of history to losing pressure but things were better (and acceptable) for the last year or so. However just in the last month I’m losing more pressure. Lost 1bar in last 4/5 days. No leaks in the CH system have been evident (there’s a house below me too..) but I know that...

Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

Maybe a chance this would help. Not entirely sure though. A straight on to the existing copper to this would extend things out...

Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

That's correct. There is about 2" of copper pipe required to go into the elbow and up into the shower inlet. Really awkward to get a decent tighten on the elbow concealed in the wall a bit and this connection now isn't helped by the fact the pipe itself is slightly scored by me removing the olive.
