Advice for New floor prep for tiling

Hi Ree The original screed was S&C, it failed because the mix was obviously not strong enough, or was too dry when laid. For a number of years it was covered by tiles, but since ripping those up, and putting SLC over to level, it has sat for a few months, and developed cracks. So rather...

Advice for New floor prep for tiling

Hi all, i have finally bitten the bullet and dug up a failed screed floor in a kitchen which i need to get ready to tile. I'm going to put 60cm x 60cm large format tiles down so floor has to be spot on, and it has to match level with adjacent room that will be part of expanded kitchen...

Hi Adamch Thanks for the response and helpful links. I have a 10mm U trowel, but the deeper one looks like it fits the bill. Shame its only available in 16inch size though. I,m going to be fixing over rapid matt with SPF. Floor is reasonably level so shouldnt have much to make up.

Thanks. Ii will butter the backs, and can use a 10 mm trowel . Was just curious as to why BAL specify a 13mm round notch, when it seems impossible to find one inthe UK. Sothanks for your response.

    Bal recommend 13mm U notch 20mm on 28mm centres

Hi, I looked at plenty of trowel questions, and most end up saying use a 20mm/10mm round for floors. BAL say use 20mm/13mm round for large format tiles. Is that really necessary? and if so where can that be sourced? I cant find one anywhere having trolled the web for a couple of...

    What Sealer for Travertine

Thanks for responding. I,m more concerned about whether or not putting sealing on it (like BAL protective sealant) will be an issue. I read someplace that if the sealant gets in the grout lines , the grout wont set. Is this true? Should i not be concerned about that and just wipe it over...
