    Floor screed drying times

The choice was the builder's. I will ask him why on monday. Screed is 65mm at it's thickest. Sub-base is concrete slab. A Polythene Sheet was laid on top of the concrete before the screed was laid. The concrete has it's own DPM further down. No UFH.

    Floor screed drying times

The carpet fitter turned up without the moisture meter, so I'm thinking of just getting a device myself and testing it at different points and taking a average. Would this be okay in producing something accurate...

    Pir light with no override

For other people who might have this problem. Spoke to the electrican. The back lights had 2 core cables so no chance of having the ability to run the lights on PIR and ON/OFF. So I got him to bypass the PIR and just have them as normal lamps, which is fine for the rear lights. All the...

    Floor screed drying times

Hi, My builder opted to have a liquid calcium sulphate floor screed. We have radiators in the building and the technical specification says we can "force dry it" after 7 days of being laid. The tech sheet states that in ideal drying conditions Screed dries at a rate of 1mm per day up to...

    Pir light with no override

I didn't ask him to run a particular cable type. I just agreed where the lights would go, he ran cable to that position. Here is a picture of the cable he used: http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg539/azt5150/cable_zpsc3f38ccc.jpg

Installing a new boiler in a extension

I'm in Oxford. My parents had their boiler installed for around 1k including the boiler. They didn't have to run gas pipes and water new which is the bit which is unusual here as we are aiming to end up having two boilers. The plumber said it would take him a day and half to install the...

Installing a new boiler in a extension

I've been quoted £1900 for labour to fit a new boiler to an extension. The boiler is a Worcester Greenstar 34CDi. I was quoted another 1500 for the boiler but found it being sold by a major company online for 300 pounds less. The price includes fitting the boiler, and running new gas and...

    Outdoor tiles on concrete

Hi, I have a porch at the front of the house which has been layed as a concrete slab. It will have a pitched roof over most of it. It is around 10m x 2m. I would like to lay tiles on the concrete. I'm thinking black slate or Porcelain tiles. I'm going to get a few quotes, but I'm unsure...

    New Patio maintenance

Hi, I am in the process of thinking about putting in a 30m2 patio at the rear of my house. I would like it as low maintenance as possible. e.g power wash it every year, and sweep once a week. I have been reading that you can lay the patio on sharp sand or first pour a concrete slab. Is one...

    Which grout do you recommend

I'm after a bit of advice, I am in the process of tiling floors in a hallway, kitchen and two bathrooms. The bathrooms also need to have the walls tiled. One bathroom has a shower, and the other a bath. I am looking at the same tile for the floor through out - A full body porcelain...

Sand and cement render + copper pipes

So the two pipes in the left hand corner where indeed hot and cold pipes. The builder is going to seperate them so that they are further apart and not touching. The rest of the time the pipes are already seperate so it is just a small adjustment. The pipes aren't run the corner due to the way...

Sand and cement render + copper pipes

Thanks for the replies. SandyLyon: thanks very much for good point about the warm and cold pipes! Seems ridementary like a rookie mistake to make so I will check with the builder on Monday. He is subcontracting the plumber. So he is supposed to be making sure things are being done to a...

Sand and cement render + copper pipes

Hi, Looking for a bit of advice, I'm having a extension built at the moment, and its been a very rapid learning curve. I am having all the wall's plastered with sand and cement render. The pipes feeding off the main house run up are a wall I was hoping to have sand and cemented. My...
