    Freddie I think we`re on the lines, the gap i`m on about is well the inside of the chimney breast (14*40 inches). So the plate that your on about obviously has a hole in it to fit the flue through, so are these readily available or would I have to have it made to suit the opening. Many thanks

    Was just curious to know how do I manage to get an wood grained effect by using plaster. We`re covering up 2 gurders and wanted to get an old oak beam effect. I remember a product that you used on paint to get a grain effect and wondered if this could be used on plaster. Many thanks

    Well i`ve nearly finished restoring my old calfire and was wondering if I has to use a special hearth (with the heat of the fire etc) i`ve been offered one that Slate I think not seen it yet and is an inch thick, any ideas if this is suitable or not.

    Like its already been said phone your local council/EH or if there`s one in the area try "private sector housing". Not being issused with a yearly gas cert. could end up with the lanlord being handed a hefty fine
