    Wood Burning Stove Advice

Thanks muggles. Great advise, may as well put it in place and I can decide whether or not I go for it at a later date.

Wow I love those. So now I just have to work out how to make my plaster wall non flammable

    Wood Burning Stove Advice

You're absolutely right. And size-wise too big for the room anyway. It is a good example of the style I would like to create though. Open to any suggestions on smaller yet stylish designs.

    Wood Burning Stove Advice

Thanks shambolic. Looks fantastic. I was really hoping for a free standing one. My extension is nowhere near as large as yours. It's going to have wet underfloor heating everywhere so this needs to be a small feature rather than a main heat source.

    Wood Burning Stove Advice

Oh thanks a lot for the reply. I was actually more worried about the proximity to the walls of the house being combustable. Is that not a problem with plaster? I was thinking of taking the flue right up the side of the house. I know it's going to be pricey as my house is 9.2 meters high...

    Wood Burning Stove Advice

I would really like to install a wood burning stove in my new single storey extension which is in the process of being built. Given the picture below with some dimensions, can anyone recommend a location for a stove and recommend a stove to buy if this could work. I have put the wall material...

Network Cable in conduit under screed

That is extremely useful. It's ok but tight. Wish I had known about this great link.

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Not made up, I will terminate after, or rather a friend of mine who does this for a living will for a few beers and any leftover cable. Thanks for the advice

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Yes sorry, this will be two cables only. That only shows what you could have in a very very ideal world.

Network Cable in conduit under screed

At this stage I don't know. Cat6 is perfectly adequate for my current needs, if in future I need something else with the suggested conduit solution I will have that choice. Now some last minute nerves. 20mm conduit for two Cat6 cables. Does that sound reasonable or should I be looking at 25mm...

    Garage Conversion / Rear Extension

Garage now cleared and moved contents into storage aside from the pesky tumble dryer which is furiously drying school uniforms. Some before photos for prosperity. Apparently some issues with the building regs application which may mean a weeks delay. Good start (n)

    Garage Conversion / Rear Extension

So I am about to embark on an extension. This has been over a year in the making and whilst I have done some amateur development in the past, there's nothing like your own home to fill you with fear and excitement. Starting our the house looks a bit like this: And with a lot of hard work...

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Great advice. I am soon to be the proud owner of 35 of these. I haven't quite worked out how many I need just yet but surely not 35 right angle bends!! So my plan is to use 20mm rigid conduit with 2 Cat6 cables in each. There will be quite a few separate runs as I am feeding 4 different tvs...

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Thanks John. Will factor in "shrew protection" ;) Given that all my conduit will be internal and I live in the city I should be ok with shrews but mice and rats are another story....

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Actually I didn't. The only advantage I have heard to date is better shielding. This is not enough for me to justify it. My point is that if I had asked the same question in the period of Cat6 infancy everyone would be asking why bother going with Cat6 when Cat5e meets my requirements so now is...

Network Cable in conduit under screed

Not thinking about this until a few years. Just given the way that technology goes, Cat7 or it's successor will become the new standard and not just used in data centres. I always go over the top with future proofing and meeting current standards. If it's not Cat7 there will inevitably be some...

Network Cable in conduit under screed

That's very interesting. I haven't seen this before. I like the fact that the turns are smoother so should be easier to fish. Will have to speak to my builder to see if he is happy to bend the rigid and if not this would be a great backup plan. Yes absolutely. I know somewhere down the line I...
