Garage Conversion / Rear Extension

So I am about to embark on an extension. This has been over a year in the making and whilst I have done some amateur development in the past, there's nothing like your own home to fill you with fear and excitement.

Starting our the house looks a bit like this:

And with a lot of hard work should look a little like this:

Garage now cleared and moved contents into storage aside from the pesky tumble dryer which is furiously drying school uniforms. Some before photos for prosperity. Apparently some issues with the building regs application which may mean a weeks delay. Good start

Week 1 almost over. 3 skips to date and some hard digging by hand. Lovely straight trenches. Should I worry about the 2 inches of water in the bottom of them?
