Leaking Sink - crack in sink itself

If you zoom in, it's about 5 past around the plug hole. I wasn't sure what it was made of myself, which was part of the problem. Metal enameled sounds reasonable though - if you're sure from the photo, I'll take your word for it. So there's nothing I could use to fill it? Even if the end...

Leaking Sink - crack in sink itself

Hi. I know this isn't strictly plumbing, but I'm hoping some of you guys will know. Basically, I have a small hole/crack in my sink just next to the metal around the plug hole. I have uploaded an image of the sink to my album so that you can see the type of sink and the hole/crack if you...

HELP:Hot water in mixer stopped due to freeze?

Hi, The hot water (only) in my mixer tap in the kitchen (near the stop tap) has stopped working. Cold water is OK, and hot water is OK in other taps. Since the water hasn't been turned off or anything, I'm worried something has frozen? I've got my central heating on, and that seems OK -...

Shower Cubicle: plasterboard & tiling vs all in 1 enclos

Hi, I have an upstairs shower cubicle which was just tiled plasterboard. It started to leak, and having looked at it the first couple of feet of plasterboard is dropping apart. So, given that there's quite a bit of work to do, I was wondering which would be cheaper and better: 1) get...

    shower tray help

Hi, I realise it's a common problem to have leaks around whee shower trays meet walls, but I'm looking for a cheap solution that might be a bit different to other things suggested. Basically, I have a shower tray (no up stands and curverd around outside and inside), a small gap and then...

very quick question - is it safe to turn my ch on?

Thanks for the replies. I'm mainly worried about being able to use the central heating and it sounds like it'll be OK. Yes, I've turned the water back on. I've tried the rubber glove over the mixer tap in the kitchen but this hasn't helped. You mean suck with my mouth? I'll give it a go...

very quick question - is it safe to turn my ch on?

Hi, Just changed the ball cock in the big tank in my loft. Everything went fine, apart from I've got no water from my downstairs bathroom cold taps (all other taps working). I'll have to buy a hose or something tomorrow to run from the hot to the cold taps, but in the meantime, is it safe...

stop tap to smaller tank in loft turned off - dangerous?

Hi, The stop tap to the smaller tank in my loft is turned off, because when turned on it leaks quite badly. So if I push down on the ball cock, no water flows, however, the water level doesn't seem to be going down. Is this dangerous, and is there anything I should or shouldn't do while...

high or low pressure ball cock for big lof tank

Hi, Wonder if someone could just answer a (hopefully) simple question for me. I have two tanks in my loft (big one a and little one) and the ballock (valve) is playing up in the big tank and causing overflows. It doesn't look like it will be too bad to just replace the entire ballcock, but...

turning off stopcock (now back on) has messed up hot water

I have hot water!!!! Thanks you so much twgas (and Breesey) for your swift responses. Would you say it was now safe to turn on the central heating? If ever there's anything you need to know about computers just ask, as it's the only thing I know anything about!

turning off stopcock (now back on) has messed up hot water

Thanks for all this. I haven't done anything yet, as I just want to make sure I do the right thing. I do have a mixer tap in my kitchen, at least I think I do, i.e. a knob for cold and a knob for hot, and they both come out through a single outlet. So I thought that might be the best bet...

turning off stopcock (now back on) has messed up hot water

I was just about to post this any way before I saw that you'd replied. If I leave the hot tap off for five mins then try it again quite a bit of water comes out (in spurts) but then it just gradually stops flowing and then stops. I'll read the FAQ anyway thanks.

turning off stopcock (now back on) has messed up hot water

Hi, I don't know to be honest. I've got a hot water tank in my airing cupboard upstairs, and a couple of tanks in the loft, and it's not a combi boiler. Does that help? If there's any other useful information I could give please ask. Thanks
