Is this a fair price for a new boiler installation?

I must get further quotes you're right. My house is a three bedroom Victorian terraced in London. I haven't received the written quote yet so I'm not sure what Potterton he is quoting for but he said it's the most popular on the market at the moment. Thermostatic rad valves will be included. I...

Is this a fair price for a new boiler installation?

I have been quoted £1475 + VAT to install a new Potterton wall mounted. The price includes fitting, digital room thermostat, pump, timer etc. Anyone know if the price is right? Thanks

    Soundproofing the neighbours

A lot of people don't realise that they are making a lot of noise. My neighbour has a young child that seems to be allowed to do just what it wants without any attempt to quieten its ways. I have spoken to them but after an initial period the noise just continued. The main problem is late night...

    Soundproofing the neighbours

Has anyone here had any experience with soundproofing a room against the noise of thoughtless neighbours? There are panels you can buy (50mm thick) that you glue to the walls which apparently increase the soundproofing on a party wall by up to 15db. The only thing is they are about £30 per sqm...

Boiler turning itself on too frequently?

The room stat does click but just doesn't seem to control the boiler. Is it easy to replace it? Thanks.

Boiler turning itself on too frequently?

This morning, with the boiler off, I turned the room stat right down and then put the boiler on. It started and behaved normally but the rads still got warm! I turned the room stat up which did not cause the boiler to start its constant tuning on procedure and is at present purring away...

Boiler turning itself on too frequently?

Does that mean that my room therm is faulty. When the required room temp is reached, doesn't the room therm turn off the boiler? Also, is it dangerous for the boiler to be starting up so often? Thanks for your help.

Boiler turning itself on too frequently?

I have just noticed that my boiler seems to spend quite a lot of time turning itself on (lighting), perhaps every minute or so, is this normal? The radiators are heating up ok and there is hot water, so I'm wondering why it keeps performing this operation. I can't honestly say whether it...

    Overflow from water tank

I'm really pleased with myself, not being a plumbing kind of preson, I managed to change the whole corroded valve and now have a shiny new one in place doing the job nicely. It's amazing what you can do if you try - might have saved a £100 plumbers bill too!

    Overflow from water tank

Thanks for your replies. Where does the washer reside exactly. When I look at the arm it just seems to attach to the ball with a nut and is connected to the other part with a split pin. If I have to get a new "part 2" valve is that the arm and ball bit? Sorry to seem a bit dim about this but...

    Overflow from water tank

Hi I have just moved into a house and there is a leak coming from the overflow from the tank in the loft. Clearly the ball float is not shutting off and I see that it is a Portsmouth valve, the problem is I don't know how to adjust it. Can anyone offer any information on how to do this. Also...
