Thanks a lot. Yes, it happened when I was cleaning the drainer down and to test it, poured a cup of water around the seal and dripping went into the cupboard. Doesn't happen when taps are running though. So seal it is.

How about shims? Partially loosen the screws in the sides of the pan, gently tap the shims in until the 4mm is achieved, or even settle for a bit less, then gently tightened the screws again. Silicone.
