It is copper in and out. What are your thoughts on using a jointing compound? I’ve read reviews and alot of people seem to say abit of this on the olive works well?

    Leaking stop cock

Thank you Terry. My bad, I had the wrong nut, gland nut is fine. It’s leaking from the compression fittings on both sides. The stop tap is brand new. Ive tightened them to maximum, I feel like if I try anymore it’s going to snap the pipe! Could this possibly happen if I’m using pump pliers to...

    Leaking stop cock

Hi all, I have just renewed my stop cock and pipework downstairs in the toilet room, unfortunately the stop cock is leaking from both sides. The nuts have been tightened very tight both sides. I put PTFE tape around the olive on the one side to see if this helped, but no luck. Do you think if I...

Isolating water supply to replace plumbing

I’ll turn off the main stop cock outside and also drain the taps. I may also isolate both the tanks just to be on the safe side aswell, is there any harm is doing that apart from the air locks? Thanks for your help, appreciate it

Isolating water supply to replace plumbing

Ah fab thanks. I’ve just found this one which is opposite the other isolating tap, and makes sense based on location of two tanks in loft. Would this be the one?

Isolating water supply to replace plumbing

Many thanks for your reply. I’ve just seen this (runs to the smaller pipe in the second picture), will this turn off the flow from both tanks or am I looking for a second one?

Isolating water supply to replace plumbing

Hi all I’m replacing my stop cock and plumbing in the downstairs toilet. I have a gravity fed boiler system. Other than turning off the mains supply outside, and opening all the taps in the house to drain the system, do I need to shut off/drain the upstairs water tank and header tank? Many...

Compression tee next to water mains

Hi all I am renewing my plumbing and am wondering if a compresssion tee will be okay for this joint, right near the water mains inlet? Will it take the pressure over time? Many thanks

    Water dripping from copper pipes

Hi all I am renewing some pipework which will hopefully solve this, but why would there be water drips coming from copper pipes. The outside of the pipework is wet. Would this be due to old pipework etc? It only seems to happen at night time. Many thanks

    Advise on plumbing toilet room

Thanks, that did cross my mind if I’d get a straight pipe from the corner. I’ll give that a go, will probably saw off the olives to use the new nuts. Thank you for that. Many thanks for your help. Where would you make the pipe cuts to renew in the corner near the hot and cold feed? Thank you in...

    Advise on plumbing toilet room

Hi. Please can anyone give me some advice on plumbing my downstairs toilet room? The toilet is going where the pan connector is, and the sink where the spirit level is. I am renewing all the copper pipe, including the seized stop tap. To keep it simple I’m planning on copying the current...

Self levelling compound set in soil pipe (1)

Thanks for the reply. I needed a 400mm drill bit to reach the compound so don’t think I’ll be able to get enough force into the hammer. I’m worried I might ruin the plastic pipe, but worst thing that can happen is a small hole through the plastic pipe that needs to be repaired

Self levelling compound set in soil pipe (1)

Thanks John for the reply. The concrete is stuck at a 45/90 degree bend, shame it’s not vertical or else it would be easier. I’ve drilled around 3cm deep already, hoping the compound isn’t much further!
