No hot water after recent plumber visit

Hello, I've recently had a plumber complete a fair amount of work laying some new copper pipes to supply water to our garage, moving the location of our stop tap, new kitchen & utility drainage, and the hanging of a couple of radiators. The plumber was here Friday for 8-ish hours, during which...

Does new drainage need to be inspected by Building Control?

We've left the current rainwater & boiler condensate gully in, as this appears to drain to a soakaway, and added the new foul drainage separately for the sink & washing machine that'll be connected to it. We're not adding a WC. I think we'll just keep quiet and see if she mentions anything. If...

Does new drainage need to be inspected by Building Control?

Thanks, Hugh, that's put our minds at ease. We'll very happily explain that when the BCO comes for a visit (we even have photos of things like the pipe sitting on the bed of pea gravel), and hopefully, she'll realise that this is a case of naivety and nothing malicious.

Does new drainage need to be inspected by Building Control?

Ah, oops - not ideal. Am I better contacting them now and make them aware of my blunder, or play dumb when they come in a few weeks and resolve things then?

Does new drainage need to be inspected by Building Control?

I've recently DIY-installed a new waste water pipe to create a utility space in my garage (thanks to @Hugh Jaleak for the advice). The pipe works great; water flows at a 1:40 gradient and goes into the existing drainage at the manhole at the back of our garden. Job's a gooden'. We've...

    Adding New Drainage to Garage

Hello, We want to add wastewater drainage to our garage to create a small utility space for a washing machine and sink. We are relatively hands-on and confident in DIY, so we wondered whether digging trenches and laying pipework is something that we could do ourselves? I get a little bit...

uPVC door hinge adjustment - can I fix this draught?

Hero - that's the one! It appeared to be on max, but in the direction of pulling the door apart. Screwing it the other way has fixed the issue. Thank you so much, your help is really appreciated!!

uPVC door hinge adjustment - can I fix this draught?

No idea what I'm looking for or if this image is useful, but this is taken from the top/looking down at the top hinge. Looking up from the bottom looks the same.

uPVC door hinge adjustment - can I fix this draught?

Would those be the top and bottom caps on the part of the hinge that's connected to the frame?

uPVC door hinge adjustment - can I fix this draught?

Hello, We've got a couple of uPVC doors at the front & back of our house - both have developed an identical problem. The door seal works perfectly around the door frame except around the top-right hinge, where a gap lets through a nasty draught. I've looked online at several...

Something a bit like this. Would you suggest getting something to cover the backplate or can I pop the RX1 back on to cover the wires?

Help switching/installing Drayton Wiser Kit 2 with Danfoss RX1?

Okay, excellent. And please excuse the ignorance - I'm an IT professional by trade - but is "join the common/live into normally open or alter at the wiring center" something that I can do as a DIY'er, or am I best having an electrician/plumber sort this? I really appreciate your help, thank...

Help switching/installing Drayton Wiser Kit 2 with Danfoss RX1?

Thanks, Chris. So just to clarify - I can fit the new Drayton Hub to where the previous Danfoss programmer was (picture 1) and then I need to sort out the wiring behind the RX1, which I've photographed below:

Help switching/installing Drayton Wiser Kit 2 with Danfoss RX1?

Hi all, Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Santa brought a new Drayton Wiser Kit 2 that I'm hoping to swap with our current Danfoss RX1 system. As far as I understand the Danfoss system uses a standard backplate and therefore I think I can swap it with the new Drayton Wiser Kit. However, I...
