Baxi Instant 105e - part name unknown!

Thanks for the rapid reply. So it's a DHW brass flow switch that I need? Is this the sort of thing that I can fit or is it a Corgi job? Cheers...

Baxi Instant 105e - part name unknown!

Can someone help with a part name, please? It's a part onto which the DHW microswitch fits over the diverter pin (right term?). When there's demand for hot water, the pin pushes into the switch, which in turn fires up the boiler. The housing around this pin has snapped off and is in my...

Baxi 105e - Intermittent central heating failure

Just a quick update: Problem hopefully solved. It was, indeed, a stuck diverter pin that, now that it has been freed, cleaned and greased, appears to be working properly. Microswitch not faulty. No parts needed. Many thanks to all who contributed. Cheers... Richard

Baxi 105e - Intermittent central heating failure

Thanks for the reply, Tony. So, in your opinion, it's definitely a sticky DHW microswitch or a stuck diverter pin - or does one come with the other? Comment noted about our Corgi man if it was a simple and common fault to diagnose! Is this problem simple to rectify with a few new parts...

Baxi 105e - Intermittent central heating failure

Thanks for the reply. I'm the end user, not an engineer, so have to say that I don't know what a dhw microswitch is or where I would find it to see if it were sticking. Same goes for the plunger question, I'm afraid. How would I tell if the plunger returns when I switch off the hot water and...

Baxi 105e - Intermittent central heating failure

The hot water neon remains on after demand for hot water has ceased. There are no dripping taps or anything that could be calling for the hot water supply. When it stays on, it obviously prevents the central heating from functioning, even though the boiler is not actually fired up when the...

    Invisibly fixed shelving

Thanks for your help with that, Jason. Did you buy the rods cut to size or by the metre (for example) and cut them yourself? If so, were they from Screwfix? Cheers.

    Invisibly fixed shelving

Having bought the perfect shelves, we just have to fit them now. Ideally, I'd like to get them onto the wall without any bracket showing, as they'll be at eye level and any fixing supporting the shelf will be seen. I wondered if there was a way to use dowels by, say, drilling holes into...

Thanks, everyone, for your prompt and detailed replies. Enough information there to keep us going, methinks. Cheers!

    Rewiring a house

Hello, everyone. We are in the throws of buying a new house and are interested in knowing how to determine whether it needs a full rewire. What are the signs to look for (good and bad), please? The house was built in the '50s. This is not a job we're looking to do ourselves, by the way...
