Repair to split bath overflow hose?

Not so easy, Castle, the overflow is also the control for the pop-up waste and I would prefer not to disturb this unless there really is no choice. Yes, the split is clearly visible, albeit using a torch and a mirror. I think the LS-X and bandage is most likely to provide the remedy. Thanks...

Repair to split bath overflow hose?

I will have the s-a tape and epoxy putty on hand. Alternatively does anyone think that the washing machine waste connector proposal with a couple of clips and some silicone would be a possible method of fixing?

Repair to split bath overflow hose?

I thought of that but the trouble is that the hose is made of that rather thin, flimsy, glossy textured white plastic. I may be wrong but it doesn't seem to be beefy enough to adapt to s-a tape. :?

Repair to split bath overflow hose?

I need to make a repair to a split in the flexible overflow hose on a bath. Ideally I would replace the hose but access to this is very difficult as the tap end (and waste end) of the bath are positioned into an alcove area. It is therefore impossible to reach the point where the hose joins the...

2 piece WC...splits horizontally. Anyone familiar?

Sorry to raise this matter again but I have got hold of a tube of this natural curing silicone, it's Dow Corning 794 (Plastic & Glass silicone sealant). My concern is that it specifies in its benefits a "Joint movement capability +/-50%". As I am trying to eliminate any movement betweene the two...

2 piece WC...splits horizontally. Anyone familiar?

It cetainly does, Nige  . Evidently the installation of these types of loos was mandatory in these council properties; inexplicable as to why, though. Thanks for the advice re NCS.

2 piece WC...splits horizontally. Anyone familiar?

I wondered if anybody might haver seen this type of loo. Sorry but I do not have a picture. The basin is made of plastic and is in two pieces, an upper and lower half. The bottom half is screwed to the floor and the upper half sits on top. There is a plastic gasket between these halves The...

    Dolphin Installer

A couple of years back whilst I was on my Plumbing course (Not Very Qualified Level 2) the department at the college were contacted by Dolphin regarding employment opportunities. The claim was that by fitting Dolphin bathrooms it would be possible to make around £1,400 a week. I am unaware as to...

    lead

Skattie, sorry to have hi-jacked your thread but it has proved very interesting to me, a newboy plumber. I am glad you got everything sorted, albeit following the deluge. Excellent and interesting advice, Chris. Now I am off to recover a bit of lead pipe and some D type solder. Then...

Fixing loo-roll holder to tiled wall

Good thinking, NS, but I have got it sorted; I have removed a screw from a plug which seems to work a treat. :) Thanks for your ideas though.

Fixing loo-roll holder to tiled wall

Tried that, N, but still can't get anything that is wide enough and with a sharp pointed end (it's the point that digs into the bracket).

    lead

Very good points, Chris. What irritates me though, is that I am regarded as not being a plumber because it quite simply is not a skill that has been taught on an industry recognised course (NVQ Level 2, that is). Regs are regs after all though I do understand that in some cases replacing all...

    lead

And therefore do not risk being struck off any register! Perhaps somebody could confirm as to when this particlar skill was last taught to plumbers on City & Guilds courses? As a recently qualified plumber myself I understand that lead to copper jointing it is not likely to have been a part...

Fixing loo-roll holder to tiled wall

This may seem a bit trivial but I wonder if anybody can help. I am trying to refix a brass loo-roll holder to a tiled wall. The holder itself is a round piece of brass which is designed to twist and clip on to a bracket and then a small (but wide) grubscrew passes through the roundpiece and is...

    Removal and repositioning of WC.

Thanks Paul, very interesting. What I am a bit confused by is that you say I must tile around it rather than underneath though currently the WC is fixed upon the existing tiles. Why should this be a problem? What I did not explain was that there has been some sort of flood in the bathroom which...

    Removal and repositioning of WC.

My next-door-neighbour is planning to retile her bathroom. In order that she can tile under the WC the WC will have to be removed and then put back in place – not a problem because she has a second loo. What is a bit confusing is that the WC is one of those box-shaped back-to-the-wall types...

    Failing to install XP Office.

Well I might just end up having to fork out for a copy myself. It's a laptop Dell 8600 bought last year and has a CD-rom/DVD rewriter. The XP Office copy is on a TDK CD-RWXG - written on the disk is the code as usual set of 5 x 5 character/nos. But obviously it has not got as far as asking...

    Shower Height

Well G.J. Blower (Plumbing Master) in his Book Two states the fixed type shower should be fitted, unless otherwise specified, so that the rose is a minimum height of 2m from the floor of the shower tray. Does this help, at all?

Oh, sorry. This is not the original disk, it's a copy. Will that make any difference?
