    Cash Isa transfer problem

no expert i think you need an isa account that specifically say "we accept isas in from other providers" or words to that effect you cant have a middleman account as it would need to cashed up to get there but just my understanding that can be wrong another point i think these new breed off...

    Mr. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

i havent read much off this thread as his action are so conceited arrogant with a full sense off entitlement to be left that i would add nothing useful extra he could have shown genuine contrition [or at least be shown too] too close down the subject for most now heres the point i love...

    Train Stabbings

the problem we have is over the last perhaps 20 years the investment in youth and young family life in society has diminished drastically and we are feeling the evils now the solutions will take as long to unwind with time and investment in people to reduce not just money but real commited...

    Furniture Joint

i fully agree with "why not indeed" buuuuuttt because the side you are screwing into may be around 8-12mm before reaching the pocket [mortice]before hitting the tennon i would washer the screws as well

    Choice of floorboards

get them down as soon as possible to avoid the maximum risk off cupping this reduces the chance off cupping to the minimum but increases the shrinking risk through not acclimatizing in the room concerned

    Choice of floorboards

your choice really note the coverage for 210is 196mm aaaaand note there comments "natural Shrinkage Please be aware that the flooring will shrink laterally by 2.5 – 3% when fitted in a normally centrally heated home. This is normal and should be considered if flooring is not to be covered and...

    Choice of floorboards

because they dont have a grain to cup along as the fibres are now short and in every direction at once cancelling each other out think off a handful off drinking straws remember each ring is a different years growth and pressures can build up and cause movement around the radius off the grain...

    Choice of floorboards

yes a good compromise as any visible cupping or shrinking will be around half that off 9" as effects are multiplied with small size gains for example iff you take a cupped 9" board and the middle is raised by say 7mm iff you rip it in half the raise will be perhaps 1 to 1.5mm for each half...

    Choice of floorboards

i have used 100s off metres off 9"in furniture making for tops and in the end i would either rip it down the middle or glue sub 7" planks together alternate cup up and cup down as call back for split tops exceed the theoretical time saved from fewer glue joints and assembly time;)

    Choice of floorboards

most 220mm will tend to be through and through cut timber and include the tree heart or close too and this is the area most likely to cup and if it cant cup the grain can open up engineered wood is far more stable as its more than one layer and evens out the stresses

Energy v cost, do people really not know the difference?

perhaps it only applies to quite dry items like bacon and anything sugar filled ??
  16. B

    Choice of floorboards

its your choice but would think cupping splits and shrinkage may be a problem you will probably need 3 fixings but i dont know as its not a normal size i would use for flooring

    Choice of floorboards

what size where your last lot off boards ??? you may be fine and any shrinkage may be within exceptable levels as a 1-1.5mm gap can fill with wax but a larger say 2-3mm gap may not
  18. B

    Choice of floorboards

if you go for 9" be prepared for 2-3mm possibly bigger gaps that will appear regardless off how tight you fit them with a clamp https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=floor+board+clamp&atb=v227-1&ia=web

Reform party ditch all the tax cuts they promised

reform will fade into the past eventually, long before the next general election at present labour and the conservatives are seen by some as lying and cant be trusted most people dont like so much negativity in politics any body with children and most hard working people are on the benefits...

    Choice of floorboards

another point to note if its an old property then the new electric and plumbing installed perhaps 10- 30 years ago will be along a plank centre so any change should be planned thoroughly to avoid the problem off 2 edges in the cutout without sufficient support
