Can I check some other stuff 1) are the units that take the sink different from the normal base units? 2) I am going for a built under oven - I udnerstand that these don't need units - you just leave an exact 60cm gap. Is that right? 3) I am going to go for a solid top (but not granite)...

I have measured up - in a particular run I can get 4x 60cm wide cabinets and then I sort of end up with 15cm- so I can consider a wider cupboard or use filler of somesort.

Toilet - distance from soil pipe

The distance in my case would only be 1 metre or so but there would be an immediate bend so it there needs to be a slope it would be difficult - also as the soil thingy just goes under the floorboards and out there doesnt seem to be much scope for a slope.

I am having some work done on my house and the soil pipe is being moved. It will now be in the corner of my bathroom - but I want the actual toilet to be a bit further away How far can the toilet be from the soil pipe and can ittake one full bend? I want to put the sink where the toilet...

    Kitchen queries

My post probably wasn't the clearest 1 - lets say your kitchen is 130cm and you buy enough units to fill 120cm - what do you do with the extra 10cm of space? Just use filler materials (obvious this is a simplyfied example). One way to utilise that space is by having a freestanding cooker...

    Kitchen queries

Looking to replace the kitchen - the new one will be a slightly different size. 1) What do you do if the standard kitchen cabinet sizes you want do not fill an entire run? How do you fill the gap? One way I can think of is to have a freestanding cooker 2) If I want a hob and built under...

    Light switch/fitting not working

    Light switch/fitting not working

OK will try that tomorrow - from memory the red went to L1 and the black went to L2 with a red sleeve on it. The old switch only had L1 L2 L3. Is the COM thing new in the last 10-15 years? So red to L1 and black to COM?

    Light switch/fitting not working

I am ready to call out an electrician but worth checking I am not missing something obvious. Our light fitting in the living room is fairly old - around 15 years. The other day it broke and would not switch on (it holds 3 bulbs and none of them worked). I assumed due to age it was knackered -...

How serious are these problems re new patio?

You dont need an experts report if you can demonstrate the work has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill (as per the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982) - reasonable care and skill does not mean a perfect job but one which a competent person in that field would do - i.e a good...

Putting up a punchbag - help with bolts

Here are some pics of the shed pic 1 - the outside where it will hang pic 2 - inside showing the roof going above pic 3 - inside where bolts would come in. I am guessing the bolts would come in just under the top later of cement http://postimg.org/gallery/an6exiki/ May not be the...

Putting up a punchbag - help with bolts

one more thing - my shed is made of breeze blocks - the roof is made of wooden beams with some sort of rough material on top. One of my worries was that the bracket will fix to the block that is on top and that it might start detaching from the block underneath - the roof is not rock solid on...

Putting up a punchbag - help with bolts

Thanks for the responses So just buy 3 hex nuts with washers and bolts and then get a sheet of ply that will go on the wall inside the shed and the washers/nuts will then go onto that? With regards to the hole, I think I can use 10mm holes as that is the hole size on the metal wall bracket...

Putting up a punchbag - help with bolts

Hi I am putting up a punchbag in my garden. The bracket will be affixed with 3 bolts. I am aware that punchbag will put some stress on the wall so want a secure fit. The punchbag will be attached to the outside of my shed which is made of concrete blocks (breeze blocks) and the wall is...
