    What's The Point In This

I'd have to disagree with you there: men of all ages do daft things because a) it sounded like fun or b) it seemed like a good idea. That's what we do. :D Things that men do infrequently just because we can: 1) run a half/full marathon 2) climb a big mountain 3) climb lots of little...

    increasing fuel economy pt 2

35mpg for my start-stop town driving. 41mpg with nothing but motorway driving, with sensible use of throttle.

Demonstrate what you mean by "absolutely nothing"

    zebra crossing

indeed it is true! The problem of zebra crossings has come up with supermarkets. Some people are of the opinion that because they are not on a public road they bear nothing to the rules. However, the legal stance is that by entering the private property of the supermarket, you are agreeing...

    I'm not a number, I'm a free man!!!

Wow, this really must have been popular! I apologise for the apostrophes, I was still taken aback from Number 6 winning the election to become Number 2 in a big ploy. How many eggs with your bacon? Be seeing you.

    Are we THIS stupid?

Every time I hear of one of the unwashed US states passing some law to make schools teach Creationism or Intelligent Design as a valid scientific theory, I shake my head, smile smugly and think "That would NEVER happen over here!". Oh boy... (the blue text is mine) Apparently 44% of those...

    I'm not a number, I'm a free man!!!

I've been watching The Prisoner recently, great isn't it? What a wonderful concept! Probably wouldn't work in these post-Cold War days, but was certainly relevant (if I compare it to the Connery-era Bond films!) Any other 1960s TV programmes I should be watching?

Traffic lights on M6 Motorway LOL!!!

Of course, the same effect could be achieved by banning cars that suck and fining drivers who think it is acceptable to amble down a sliproad and then pull out onto the carriageway without checking if it is clear or that their speed matches that of traffic. :x Some people seem to think that...

    Britain's first roundabout

And is Cologne the best-smelling? And no-one knows where the capital of Italy is because it likes to Rome? I'll let you draw your own conclusions about the French town of Brest

    Body Dryer

I've thought about this. Now, those body driers probably take 3 minutes to dry you, at 1p/minute. How much does it cost to launder a towel? Well, I can get one in my machine, along with other stuff but it is more than half a load. So, in all it probably costs me 15p to launder it...

    Britain's first roundabout

Biggest area or most people? I thought London was the biggest city in Europe on both counts, anyway! Except then you get into all kinds of issues: Are you talking about the city-proper, are you regarding the connurbation of London as 3 separate cities (after all, it is!), are you...

    Body Dryer

Like you didn't enjoy it too  Let us know if it seems any good. At a theme park, I think Thorpe Park, they have these big cabins with hot air to dry you off after a log flume. Worked incredibly well, clothes and skin dry after a few minutes. Cost a couple of quid, but totally worth it!

    Britain's first roundabout

I used to live in Letchworth and can vouch for that. The only thing that calls it "Letchworth Garden City" is the sign you pass on the way in. Been there too: spent a good 30 minutes trying to find John Lewis in a tiny village before I gave up and asked someone "Oooh, you're in the wrong...

    Masochism

Going for a swim in rough denim jeans, followed by a 3-mile run in frosty temperatures. Ouch, the chaffing! Well, that's kinda unpleasant all round. Oh yeh: when you're a child, with a wobbly-tooth: you can't help but waggle it around.

    Sound Quality

Well, I saw a pretty girl and you know how sometimes you get distracted? I might have somehow ended up in an office building, standing in a lift in mid-conversation with the woman. Realised a little too late that on removing my headphones to chat I had just left them dragging behind...

    Here's something that bugs me......

It defies belief. A man in a Freelander... He'd already blacked out the windows to hide his shame, why would he then want to draw attention to the fact he was driving his mum's car by driving the wrong way through a petrol station?! Perhaps he didn't want to mess up his hair... the...

    Sound Quality

I had some brilliant Sony headphones that I bought for my Sony mp3 player. But one day I was out for a walk and in the course of events the headphones became trapped in a lift. Now I have a wire with a 3.5mm plug on the end. I hate lifts. :x Now I've got the standard in-ear headphones...

    Alcohol Culture??

Not a British soap, but just as popular nonetheless: Neighbours. On Neighbours they only drink halves and seldom finish them, and spend more time in "the coffee shop". So surely that is teaching the youth a "cafe culture"? (According to my mate who lived in Oz, people do seem to drink...
