How to tell if a circuit is on an RCD?

The lights are above the basin, either side of a mirror. The basin is more than 600mm to the side of the bath. The switch is way on the other side of the room, at least 3m from the bath. Re the RCD circuits, does your answer mean that all the circuits in that CU are RCD protected?

How to tell if a circuit is on an RCD?

here are some photos of what I've got. This is the CU with what I think are the RCD circuits: And this is the other one with the main switch (and no yellow test switch): To respond to the most recent suggestions - there is no bonding in the airing cupboard...

    Pipework is all metal.

How to tell if a circuit is on an RCD?

Wow, that was quick. Thanks. I will try the tests suggested. The circuits, unhelpfully, are not accurately marked on the CU. If the bathroom lights are not on the RCD, and they are the only electrical installation in the bathroom, could this account for the absence of bonding...

How to tell if a circuit is on an RCD?

I'm trying to work out which of our household circuits are protected by an RCD. In other installations we've had it was quite clear that individual circuits were protected and could be tripped and then reset individually. In our new place, however, it looks like the whole of one bank of...

Adjustment of Majestic frameless shower screen

Thanks. I think that must be right - there does appear to be a channel option, recessed or surface, which must take the fixed "frameless" panel, the hinged door coming off the opposite wall.

Adjustment of Majestic frameless shower screen

Hi, we're thinking about installing a Majestic frameless shower screen once I've built the enclosure to suit it. Problem is this. The tray will be 1200x800 and the enclosure will be built to this size, and then tanked and tiled to the tray. Once tanked and tiled, the relevant dimensions of...

Pipe freezing at a tee joint

I need to move a radiator on a pressurised system where the 15mm flow and return come off the 22mm main feeds in a position too close to be able to get a pipe freezing jacket on the 15mm sections. What I want to do is freeze the 22mm feeds and then work on the 15mm sections. I've used pipe...

Which screws to fix hardwood floorboards?

I'm about to lay 20mm elm square edged floorboards straight to hardwood joists. Any suggestions as to the best screws to use - type, length and size? I will drill pilot holes with a screwdigger and then plug before finishing. I usually get screws from Screwfix. Many thanks. crt

    Waste runs (again)

Bahco - the reason for the long runs, particularly the 2.15m, is that we have to have the shower (double sized) and bath side by side but because of the positioning of the stack and the lay of the floor joists we have to take a long run across the front of the shower from the bath (pipe hidden...

    Waste runs (again)

Ooops. 95mm of course. Re 40mm, I read somewhere on this site that with longer runs sharing feeds 50mm pipe is recommended.

    Waste runs (again)

Thanks. Concern is not cost, it's simplicity - are the anti-vac traps more or less likely to need replacing sooner rather than later?

    Waste runs (again)

So....anti-vac traps even though I'm putting in 50mm pipe? Thanks for prompt reply.

    Waste runs (again)

I've followed bits of the helpful advice on waste issues and just wanted to check that what I've worked out for our new bathroom is sensible and will work. 1. We have existing bath and basin sharing a 32mm waste out to a gulley at the top of a stack (just waste, not soil pipe). 2. Plan...

    Smelly bathroom

Oddly enough I took the caps off two of the vertical feeds (the one furthest from the soil stack (bath) and the closest one (shower) yesterday afternoon to see what would happenn and we don't have a smell anymore. Question is: do I leave them open (breach building regs) or put an air admittance...
