The piping of the drain into a combined sewer and not creating a soakaway for the water to go I’ve being reading through the specs etc and all is saying to provide drainage into the ground and not overcome the network but obviously with clay soil I will struggle to achieve this thanks

I was under the impression if you couldn’t drain your driveway to a soakaway then planned by permission would need to be applied for

I do pay a charge currently to water company as I have a combined sewer if I go down this route will it require planning permission or am I best to just put a pipe into sewer manhole and say nothing

So does anyone know the alternative to a soakaway when soakaway won’t work because of clay and I have no surface water drain on my land to direct the water to only a combined sewer manhole thanks

Thank you what do you mean how the joint is finished how compressed and smooth it is? What would happen if it was lime mortar currently and not sand and cement thanks

Thanks woody that’s my thoughts aswell that a soakaway wouldn’t work so trying to work out what other options I have to drain the water

Hi did the council etc respond to the reports from neighbours did they come to check works, I would struggle with the soakaway as regs state it must be 5 metres away from property

So pointing should cure my problem? What is the best mix to use thanks

I’ve only dug to a depth of 1 metre when installing new water pipe and was still clay at this depth yeah

Do you think it will be ok for this winter as it’s not ideal conditions for repointing at the moment thanks

What sort of depth would you recommend digging the clay out to thanks

Clay is down to around 1 metre plus so isn’t really an option unfortunately

It’s currently soil on top of clay it drains nowhere that’s why I have a garden like a bog

Permeable paving will not drain into clay though that’s the problem we have
