    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

I'd just like to thank crank39 and JohnD for their help. I've now talked to the person who had reservations about the 3R35X and they've now come round to my way of thinking. I hope my last post might be useful for others scratching their heads about these issues, but it is by no means a...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

Hi Crank, I've been a bit busy, thanks for all the detail. You are obviously a locksmith of integrity. I do IT and have had loads of opportunities to make a meal of it, but I'd rather not be classed as that sort of guy either. Hope the coffee was nice though, the last thing you need is for...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

"only had it happen once" Thanks for that John, I'm starting see that this seems to be a rare to occurence. John, Crank, with regard to the terms "sprung loaded", "return" and "detent" as John remarked, I'm pretty sure detent is the correct term, cheers. Funny that you said it was your...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

Sorry Crank, maybe I didn't explain properly, it isn't caused by a tired spring (yes it is sprung loaded) it's the expected behaviour of the model. The lock this happened on is brand new. Union (ASSA ABLOY) as they are now, explain that the curtain is for nati-pick reasons, but they don't make...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

High JohnD, thanks for your input. How many times has it happened to you? I plan to pull my (now spare) Chubb appart at some point, clean it lube it and replace the detainers (for security reasons) and swap in a new curtain/bolt thrower which I understand is the main part that weares and needs...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

I know, it's hard to believe people manage to do it. As I said this happened once to the old Chubb and once with this Union one, but it happens so rarely. I've actually tried to make it happen deliberately it as a test with the wrong key and it takes some doing. It might be when you have a...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

Yeah, your're right another one would need to comply and if it's a lever/detainer lock, it would most probably also have a curtain as with the 3R35 and they'd be back at square one. I dont know if there are any high security locks without a curtain? Is there a cylinder lock for instance...

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

Cheers Crank I have already sent them all an email explaining what happened and how to avoid it so we don't get a repeat episode. I have also in previous emails, let them all know that this lock is **** hot and they are all very secure. Looks like it backfired on me. : - )

    Chubb (Union) 3R35X suitablility

Hi all I was wondering if someone might be able to help with a few questions that I've got. I live in Victorian house divided into 4 flats. I own one of the flats and all four flat are all leaseholders of the house freehold. There is one main front door to the house which is the main escape...

    Repair of bay window

Vinn, thanks for giving me the component names mate. As far as the fascia and gutter not being right, you're most likely spot on (I've not had a really good look at this yet). I can't see any inside bay ceiling issues but thanks for bringing my attention to the possibility. As I don't live in...

    Repair of bay window

Thanks gingerbiscuit I've now found out that all of the render has now been removed to avoid the possibility of it falling on anyone, so a patching this small bit is now out of the question. Looks like the whole width will have to be redone. I couldn't see any signs of steel wire or rust in...

    Repair of bay window

Hi all I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the type of bay window construction in the picture attached. A chunk of what would seems to be render has fallen off from below the guttering and I need to sort it. It’s my mum’s house and she has got a quote for £500 to fix it but it seems...

    Running without inhibitor

Hi I was just wondering what best practice is regarding the number of times you should empty the system and fill it up without inhibitor. That is to say, I've been installing a rad valve, filling the system and running it to test for leaks then doing the same again. I know each time it will...

Hot water going into the F and E tank, why?

Todd mate, I feel for you. I also had shingles in adulthood, so we've got that and fu**ing chancers working on our stuff in common. I must admit your reportage made me pi** myself (in a good way). Best of luck with it. Anyone ever said you should be a writer ; - ) Let us know how you got on.

Hot water going into the F and E tank, why?

Hi Tod I found this drawing pretty good at showing the layout of an open vented system. It helped me identify each pipe in my system and try to make sense of the problem I had: http://www.muswell-hill.com/foxandco/pages/boilertypes.htm I'm not a plumber in the slightest but... - Presumably...

    Monitor Problems - Windows 8??

First port of call, I would swap a couple of other monitors in (If available) to see what happens. I've found that monitor faults can be fairly random in the way they exhibit faults. Otherwise they can be a bit picky with regards to refresh rate etc, so that's something else to play with.

Tips And Advice For Keeping Desktop PC Running Well?

Keasy has given great advice (short and sweet) and paulc2 has too, although it's much more involved. I would just like to add in the paulc2 vein, that you would benefit from: - Looking into a second internal HD to back up to (I switch mine on and off when I need it) - Read up on the...
