Low water pressure to upstairs tank?

Not sure how to upload a video, but it's literally slow and not gushing like it once did. Having said that, it's been slower from another event a while ago. Strange that it's happening in the evening. If the stopcock / valve needs changing, it's going to be quite difficult to access!

Low water pressure to upstairs tank?

Hi Andy It;s not actually in a loft. I'll have to take the main panel off. The other think is there is a stopcock near the tank, but that's seized up. I think the main one in the kitchen could be closed off if I need to stop water from filling the tank?

Low water pressure to upstairs tank?

Thanks Andy Looks like I spoke too soon! Seemed like normal pressure this morning, and from what I've been told it was okay this afternoon. But the pressure seems to have faded again, with water pumping out for a few seconds before it dries up. Does this sound like an airlock or someone...

Low water pressure to upstairs tank?

With the tank having had time to refill overnight, the water pressure seems to be normal this morning. Does this mean there's no longer an airlock within the system? My only concern would be the lack of water later in the day. I guess this rules out burst / frozen pipes. I think we have one...

Low water pressure to upstairs tank?

I hope someone will be able to help or point me in the right direction. Our water supply to the block had to be switched off temporarily to facilitate some local works on Monday morning. Did not think much throughout the day until we experienced the water pressure was a little low after 12...

    Gas hob installation - preparation

Hi I'll be having my gas hob replaced soon. The mains supply has been off for quite some time now (over a month). Should I turn it back on a few hours before the engineer comes to replace the hob or should I just leave it off? Just curious as if left off, the gas will not be at full flow...

    Gas hob and safety

I've noticed a very slight trace of gas, so investigated further. After taking one of the rings off and lighting a match, one had a what appears to be a leak (not a flame, but a small lit blob around 4-5mm in diameter. I have now turned off the gas completely at the mains. Question is, is it...

    Gas hob and safety

Thanks for your reply and advice. Regarding your purge comment, I guess this explains the lacklustre flow when it was lit? Seems to be ok now. Was it dangerous to have ignited with a naked flame without first purging? How much does it typically cost for a gas safe enginnering to inspect the...

    Gas hob and safety

Hello I cannot find the gas related forum, so thought I would post here. We experienced a problem with the control knob on our gas hob about 4 - 6 weeks ago. I think the control was a bit stuck and did not properly return to the close position, resulting in a small hiss. So we turned off the...

    Immersion heater not heating?

Nige F You seem to be quite confident in being able to get this out. Have you worked on similar ones in housing associations? Do you serve east London, near Stratford, and can you guarantee it'll come out?

    Immersion heater not heating?

Like one of these with a 4" jaw opening? Is it deep enough to get a good enough grip?

    Immersion heater not heating?

Do you guys think someting like this will do the trick?

    Immersion heater not heating?

I'm giving up. What's the point of spending £30+ on a tool I'm only likely to use once (one with 85mm jaws?). How much will a plumber cost to unscrew this thing?

    Immersion heater not heating?

Hi I'm not having a lot of luck with removing the heater element - seems stuck! The box spanner also does not have a tight / snug fit - any suggestions? Would the flat one work better? I guess they're all the same size? Thanks

    Loosening a seized stopcock?

Not sure if it makes a difference to the approach or method, but I should clarify that it's a stop (gate?) valve I'm trying to loosen. It's a red handle.

    Loosening a seized stopcock?

Hi there What are the best methods for me to try and see if I can free / loosen a seized stopcock on a cold water pipe? Would regular spraying of WD40 do the trick? Would blowing a hairdryer or something help? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

    Immersion heater not heating?

So do I :) So the tank will still have a fair amount of water in, even after turning on all hot water taps to drain?

    Immersion heater not heating?

As the heating element is from the side, I think I will purchase an 11" titanium element (good and durable for hard water areas?), a box spanner and some PTFE tape. Do I also need to buy some 'jointing compound' or alternative to paste between the ring seal on the element unit? When I shut the...

    Immersion heater not heating?

Evening everyone - sorry I haven't replied! Good to know that the tank is less prone to crack when replacing the element.
