Extension flex wired into a switched double outlet?

I soldered them as I noticed that most of the fitted plugs I've seen have the ends soldered already. I can easily cut the soldered end off and just twist the strands, double it over and then put into the terminals.

Extension flex wired into a switched double outlet?

Ok, thanks. I was wondering how I would secure the flex if I wanted to use a standard outlet, so I'll get a cable gland. I presume I locate it in one of the knock outs or inside the box acting as a means of preventing the cable pulling through rather than securing the cable in place? Ive...

Extension flex wired into a switched double outlet?

As part of a refurb of the kitchen, I intended to have a fused spur running behind the units so I could fit a double socket onto the end of it for powering the dishwasher and the ignitor for the gas hob. It was intended that the switched socket would be mounted inside a base unit, so it was...

Zanussi double oven in a tall BandQ unit., 10mm gap at top?

Zanussi ZOD35702BK, it's an eye level ouble oven. It isn't an under the counter one as it would have to be a very high counter. I guess that all units are standard 600mm or 900mm fitting as they can't make a unit for every model of oven on sale. I'll have to pack it underneath by 8mm.

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

One of the considerations if fitting one is that its going to hang adequately, often this is in a "U" shape. Another is that its not going to be rubbed or abraded. This is very likely if there are drawers under the hob. Tony I agree, but even a rigid pipe is possibly going to be very...

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

We were going induction originally, for the look and understood them to be efficient, but chose gas as we are used to it. A lot of gas hobs look bulky, but this seems to have a low profile.

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

Thanks Ian. That's how I read it too, but forum opinion seems to weigh in favour of rigid pipe. I was just curious whether the regs overruled the MI's or vice versa, but it seems to be the latter. I'll show the plumber the MI when he gets here, but he didn't turn up today to see what's...

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

a)Could you post the first part of that again, in English this time? b)Perhaps you shouldn't have replied in such a cocky way in the first place?

Zanussi double oven in a tall BandQ unit., 10mm gap at top?

I can't believe that there should be a gap there and the unit was assembled as per the instructions, which gave a choice of accomodating two oven sizes, single or double. The oven fits in OK side to side, but there is a 10mm gap along the top. I could put a filler piece there, but it would...

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

Hi, there were no fittings or hose supplied, just the hob.

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

Why does a boiler service cost so much then? Less than a hours work, no parts to fit?

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

@scottishgasman, I have no issue with rigid pipe, I was just asking what the regs say as the manual suggested otherwise? My plumber will be doing the job, so will do what is supposed to be done. @blakie8, not psychic, I did ask for a hose that would allow connection of my new hob to a bayonet...

Gas hob with drawers underneath, what do the regs say?

I was offered a connector at a well known plumbing supply center that would allow me to adapt my male ended hose to the male elbow on my new gas hob. It was made clear that it was not the proper way to do it. I didn't buy the adaptor, but got me wondering about the correct way. Most queries...

Cuprofit not firm fit, is that normal?

Thanks. I'm not sure I'm too impressed by them compared to soldered joints.

Cuprofit not firm fit, is that normal?

For the first time, I used copper push fit fittings and notice they are not as firm as I would like. Water pressure helps, but they don't inspire much confidence. It's just the rubber ring that creates a seal under pressure and the teeth stop the pipe blowing off, right?

Forgot the insert on the MDPE main, OK or not?

I disconnected the pipe so I could seat it into the connector fully, but now there is a weep from it.

Forgot the insert on the MDPE main, OK or not?

After much pulling and pushing Ive got the insert into the MDPE pipe now and all done back up. The Cuprofit fittings that Ive also used allowed some play in the pipework quite alarming , the amount of play really. I did notice that the MDPE didnt seem to be as far into the fitting as Id like...

Forgot the insert on the MDPE main, OK or not?

Not really. It only sticks out about 6" above the floor level.
