Draught around boiler flue through tiles

Hello all, Is there anything I can do myself to stop draughts coming in around the flue of my boiler, as pictured? Aside from covering the cupboard in silt and occasionally blowing the door open, the draught hasn’t caused any major problems. It’s more of an annoyance. If it’s best left as...

Cooker extractor in single storey extension

Hello all, We have recently fitted a new kitchen and have decided to have the extractor fan remove air rather than recirculate it. The party wall of our extension is right up against the boundary, and the position of the cooker is around three feet from the rear wall and windows of this...

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

We had the kitchen floor up recently and found that the inspection chamber had indeed been latexed over, so no access there.. but there is another one inline out at the side of the bungalow so external access is available, albeit some distance from the kitchen. Going back to the soil stack...

    Internal Glass Wall build

If anyone stumbles across this in search of ideas for their own project, here's the finished result (unpainted) : Ideal for those wanting a noise and smell barrier without having plasterboard walls divide a room in two / create a narrow stairway. I've looked at having SmartGlass...

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

Ah, point taken. I'll check at the bungalow next door to see if there's an access point at all. There are no drains in the garden so I wonder if its under the laminate floor indoors? Cheers, Adam

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

The area shown in the photo is a rear extension to a bungalow, concrete floor. The soil pipe runs away to the rear but there's no manhole...! Edit: externally or internally!

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

Can I replace the existing 90• bend with a 45• bend which goes through the wall, followed by a 45• bend on the other side of the wall that puts the stack back on a vertical run up to the attic, where the new toilet can branch in? With access plug in case of any future blockages. Cheers

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

As you look at the picture, the kitchen drainage runs in the same direction the pipe is pointed to. It starts its fall under the sink and goes under the slab fairly early on. So it could run and feed in to the waste pipe underground, if that's how it's normally done?

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

The kitchen drain is to the right of that picture, I haven't checked to see if that gives anything away direction-wise, so I'll do that. I took the bung off today and stuck some old flex down there, it appears to chuck a 90• turn to the right, so in the picture that would mean it runs away...

Pinenot, The pipe is plastic. I believe it runs in the direction the head is pointed towards but I'm yet to check with a rod or something similar. I'll check and post up here. Cheers, Adam.

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

This is a photo of the old unused waste pipe (apologies for photo being sideways). It sits about a foot and a half from the wall. The wall is the former external rear wall of the bungalow before it was extended. There is a void behind this wall which is where I'd like to ideally run the waste...

Thank you both for your advice. I'll upload a photo when I can to show the current and proposed layout in case there's another way I can go about it. Cheers!

Re-routing soil stack and fuse box questions...

Hello everyone, Firstly apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum section! I have a single storey extension to a bungalow over an old WC, which sat just outside the boundary of the original building. The toilet has been removed (it was opposite the bathroom and therefore a second...

    type of wood and staining...

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I've called it the wrong name - it seems every shop calls it something different - but I meant that deep brown colour by black walnut. Similar to the picture.

    type of wood and staining...

Hi there, I am looking to build a frame to house a glass pane, indoors, from floor to ceiling. 1) What type of wood do I want to use, which will do the job and look nice? 2) Regarding wood type, I have stained a few items in the room I'm building it in and they've come out looking like...

    Internal Glass Wall build

Hello everyone, I'm looking to replace a stud wall in the loft room (and build up another one) with glass instead of plaster, adding a door to make it a proper room. I'm thinking of doing one side at a time, starting with the closest side; is it simply a case of taking out the stud...
