    Outdoor socket

I need to spur off an inside ring to fit a socket for my robot lawnmower outside. Would a standard double socket from the MK Masterseal range be ok or does it need to be RCD active or passive too? Looks like the MK branded ones aren’t cheap. Thanks.

    Tidy loft cables

Thanks for that guys. I’ll do a general tidy up and clip them in vertical/horizontals and not do any diagonal runs. Appreciate your help and advice as always. Thanks.

    Guttering advice

I currently have white ogee FloPlast guttering installed and on pretty much every union it’s leaking/dripping. I’ve tried replacing the rubber seals with the same branded ones and cleaning them out etc but I just can’t get them to stop dripping. Is this a common issue/problem with this...

    Tidy loft cables

I need to add some more insulation over the rooms (where they have a ceiling roses and some spots) and then a central area I’m thinking of using a loft zone solution to raise and board the area for light storage.

    Tidy loft cables

Ahhh right. That makes sense. Thanks so much! I did wonder how they would cross a joist. I guess one option I could do is cut the cables, used wago boxes and fasten them to the side of the joist? Not ideal and it’ll get quite expensive with the additional cable but guess this would solve the...

    Repointing

Hi, I’ve got an area of brickwork where the previous owners don’t seem to have used enough cement in the mix so the pointing is very sandy and comes out when I scratch it with my finger nail. With this happening, I should really repoint the area I guess? Could you give me tips on how deep to...

    Tidy loft cables

Just wondering the best way to tidy the cables the previous owners have left in the loft. The cables are lighting cables. I guess they should be clipped to the joists and left loose when they leave the joist to run on top of the plasterboard to the light fitting? When the cable has to cross a...

    Fix damage in foundation

Yeah, both areas that I photographed are where the two blocks meet and it’s the mortar joint that he’s gone for/enlarged. I guess these are the foundations of what the house is built on? Reconstructing the damage won’t offer any structural strength I guess, you’re just advising to fill up the...

    Fix damage in foundation

Gravel because it’ll be tough as a foundation? Out of interest. What are your thoughts on the condition of the 2 courses of bricks below the DPC? I guess they look worse than they are and should really have been a tougher brick than LBC heathers? The previous owners used them in this area and...

    Fix damage in foundation

Would sharp sand and cement be the same as what you are suggesting? What sort of strength mix? 3:1? Thanks guys.

    Fix damage in foundation

Thanks. When you say mixed broken glass, how do you mean? I don't have the rodent problem anymore, I just want to fix the mess it's left so wondered if I needed something special to repair this damage or what the best advice was.

    Garden Architecture

Ahhhh brilliant, thanks! Yes that sounds exactly like what I need. By the looks of it, the one you've linked too is pretty local to me too!

    Garden Architecture

Yeah I love that show and wondered if there would be someone local who would do a plan like they do on that show. Basically they would look from the very front my property to the very back and put together a plan and idea of what can work and what levels I should be aiming to achieve.

    Garden Architecture

Thanks. The problem I've found is that landscape gardeners don't seem to look at the whole area. They just seem to look at the patio or driveway in isolation and not the whole area. I wondered if there was a trade that would look at and charge for plans rather than wanting to take the work on...

    Garden Architecture

Hi, I just wondered if there was such a thing as a garden architect? Basically, someone who can look at the whole out the outside, group levels, retaining walls to put together a plan of action for creating a good outdoor space that works and complies with regs etc. The reason I ask is because...

    Fix damage in foundation

Hi, just wondered what the best product was to use to seal up this damage that a rodent caused as it was trying to dig its way into my house. I want to seal it and make good of the area but as it's below the brick course I don't really know what to use to fill it with. Thanks for you help/advice.

    Repairing this rodent damage

Thanks for this help. Could anyone help with how you'd repair the damage to the foundation blocks please? The rodent has moved on now so I'm desperate to make good of the mess and get it all concealed again. Thanks.

    Repairing this rodent damage

I have a couple of bits of work to do to make good of where we’ve had a rodent (thinking it was a rat) causing problems. I’m pretty sure that we’ve disrupted the rodent and moved it on now so that’s the first problem dealt with. There was an unused toilet that I think it was using the dry drain...

    Outdoor switched double socket

I'm wanting to replace an old IP66 rated outdoor socket with a new ones as it's start to wear out and look untidy. Do you think it's worth paying the premium price for the MK IP66 13A 2-GANG DP WEATHERPROOF OUTDOOR SWITCHED SOCKET or would you recommend a lesser brand? It'll be used to plug in...
