How to break up screed floor?

Hi, We are doing as much as possible refurb of a back room of our lower ground floor flat, and need to break up and replace the screed (to put underfloor heating in) - what's the best way to break up screed - a sledge hammer? Apols for the novice question! M

    interlinked hardwired mains smoke/co2 alarms

I'm doing a complete refurb on a 3bed, 100sqm flat, lower ground floor. It may be used for rental purposes, so I want to put in a good fire alarm system. Property is lower ground, so has external exits to both front, rear of property and internal door within the building. I looked at the Noby...

flooring to use for a waterproofed vault?

We have a coal vault external to the front of our london victorian lower ground property that we want to turn into lockable storage, it's about 2m(w)x2m(d)x1m(h). Looks pretty easy for me to get about 20sqm+ of meshed membrane and water/dampproof it myself, with plaster over the membrane, and...

    experiences with EIB/KNX in UK?

I'm currently planning a complete refurb of our property: the EIB/KNX equipment looks great, not only from functional point of view, but style as well, esp. the integrated thermostat + controllers. Only problem is that all of the manufacturers (theben, gira, jung, merten, etc) seem to be german...

can I put a PIR behind frosted glass or plastic?

Thanks guys, good replies. The property is a flat, with another above, and we don't plan to put a false ceiling in (in fact, removing one that is there), which negates any ceiling mounted options. Perhaps I just need to stick with small sensors (e.g. I was looking at texecom prestige compact).

can I put a PIR behind frosted glass or plastic?

I want to avoid putting unsightly alarm PIR detectors's up on internal walls as part of a refurb, and trying to see what the options are. There are small compact PIR's, but I'd prefer to avoid those as well. I also have the same problem with smoke detectors. Is it possible for me to put a recess...

    underfloor ventilation for bathroom/etc

We'd probably install a new gas condensing boiler: the existing one is about 10 years old. Another option available to us is to relocate the boiler to one of the vaults (i.e. that extend under the road) at the front of the property. The negative side of putting the boiler in the kitchen to be...

    underfloor ventilation for bathroom/etc

We're in the middle of buying a new lower-ground floor flat that requires work, not yet completed. I'm trying to answer a few questions for myself before we get professionals involved. Property has a boiler in the rear room, and two bathrooms in the middle of the floorplan - both bathrooms...
