    Quiet inline extractor fans?

I put one of this series of fans in when doing my wetroom and also one in an understairs toilet. www.solerpalau.co.uk/product.html?cat=428 I would also agree with BAS suggestion of a bigger fan than 4" for a couple of reasons. With a bigger fan you can run it at a slower speed whilst still...

    Multifunction tester recommendations

Thanks for the input. Looking at the things I'm wanting to change around I don't need to involve building control (all changes to existing circuits not in special locations) so thats not too important a matter at the moment. Whilst my profession is in IT I did do an electronic and electrical...

    Multifunction tester recommendations

Hi, im looking to buy a multifunction tester so that I can test my house wiring. Im going to be making some minor alterations and want to be able to check the state of things before and after any work I do. I'd be looking at a budget of around £200 (or touch more if needed) to buy something...

    Soil pipe venting question

Made one slight but actualy rather handy alteration as a finishing touch today... Changed the aerator insert in the tap to one limiting it to 6 litres/min (or there abouts!). Means you can just put the tap on full and you get a perfect amount of water for handwashing. (y)

    Soil pipe venting question

Yeah it just fitted straight in. Theres enough clearance behind the steel frame upright for the soil pipe without any modifications (the timber stud did need a small cutout for the pipe to get by). You'd have issues if the soil pipe was coming up through the floor where the frame feet are though...

    Soil pipe venting question

Just as a bit of a follow up Ive got round to finishing this job. Building inspector was happy without an AAV and theres no problems with the trap being drawn. A few pictures (everyone likes pictures :)): Before: WC_before by reds42 posted 18 Jun 2017 at 2:19 PM After: WC_1 by reds42 posted...

Underfloor heating and radiator in same room?

Thanks for that, I was thinking along the lines of an oversized radiator with the lower flow temperature of the UFH. Good point about fast warmup and the use of a TRV, I hadn't considered that. :) I'd assume the radiator could just be connected directly back to the UFH manifold on its own port?

Underfloor heating and radiator in same room?

I'm looking to rework my kitchen and as part of the work add low profile wet underfloor heating. Having had a play with heat loss calculators, and given the available floor area not under cabinets and appliances to run heating pipes, I'm not able to get quite enough heating from the floor...

Soil pipe through wall underground - Rocker pipe joint construction?

Building inspector got back to me and his view was the house would of settled as much as it was going to and just coredrilling and running pipe straight out would be fine. :)

Didn't get back to me... will call again tomorrow :(

Soil pipe through wall underground - Rocker pipe joint construction?

I was hoping to avoid having to carve out a big hole and put in a lintel (much less effort to core drill), and part H gives the use of rocker pipes as an alternative for a pipe fixed in the wall. Waiting for a call back from building inspectors and will find out what they think, hopefuly they...

Soil pipe through wall underground - Rocker pipe joint construction?

Would be doing it in plastic. To be honest I would see it as overkill, but technicaly it should be done, so was wondering how it was done correctly. Going to ring building inspector tomorrow and will see what they recon. Quite a good chance they will say dont worry about it, but best be...

Soil pipe through wall underground - Rocker pipe joint construction?

I’m looking to need to run a soil pipe through a house wall below ground level and going the route of rocker pipes to allow for any movement. For clarity on the situation a soil pipe will exit through a core drilled hole in a house wall and be fixed rigidly in the wall. Internally the pipe will...

    Soil pipe venting question

Not yet, still figuring out exactly what I'm after doing and how much its going to cost and if I have enough cash to hand yet. I tend to get a bit fixated on doing a better job than stritcly necasary and the price always end up more than I initialy imagine. Spent alot more on my wetroom project...

    Soil pipe venting question

Had a chance to take a closer measure up of where the pipes would run today and found the angle for the turn outside would end up not far off 90 degrees. After a bit of searching I found I could get a swept 90 degree mini access chamber which will be perfect for access but also provide a nicer...

    Soil pipe venting question

Although having read what I just wrote a thoughts occured to me... Is it possible to rod round a long radius bend and so negate the need for additional rodding access to the run under the house other than the existing access chamber? Its not a very long pipe run.
